This is the beginning of a project covering the history of the company I work for. Unfortunately few pics exist of the original buildings so I'm having to create things with the memories of some of the old timers still around the area from that time. Things I know that need attention are the pump handles, down spouts need to be hollow, door needs to be put in place, a ground plane needs to be made...and much more! And...this is my 1st project with tS7.1 so I'm learning the program at the same time. Anyway, looking for critique and input. Thanks!

"Fill 'er up, Ethyl!"
Still a little early in the WIP for me to make any comments, but I am interested in seeing how it develops.
Some more items to consider: garbage cans, advertising, spare tires, air hose, the 'ding-ding' hose, water can, oil can rack, flags, electrical wires, and concrete pads/ curbs.
You may find entering the search string 'gas station' at the following site will provide some more inspiration: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/habs_haer/index.html
(90 pages of inspiration, actually- '1936 gas station' also got one result with several photos and an elevation drawing.)

Great start I say!

There were a few of those gas stations (abandoned) around when I was a kid. Talking with my dad about them is that a lot of them were designed like cottages or small houses so not to offend the City Dads and they would blend into the neighborhood.

Inevitably, there were always a stack of used tires around back, along with brake shoes and the like. :)

Here's an old b&w pic of one.

Here are a few pics I took on vacation last spring, maybe they will help, not sure if it is the era you are working in.

Boo-Booed that link in my earlier post, so here it is again in a hopefully functional state: Historic Building Survey. (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/habs_haer/index.html)

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, ideas and links. Spacekdet that is a great resource for early photos...took away some great ideas and the link went straight to my favorites! Been busy modelling a couple of oil can racks, oil cans w/labels, collecting some period ads and putting a foundation under the building..been busy! I'll be happier with the set when there's more detail and those are the things you've all pointed out...should have been obvious to me but it's been a long day. About the only thing most of those left in this area remember about the original station is that it was a 1 room building about 18' X 18', an old desk in the front left corner, a pot belly stove in the center and a couple of chairs on the right side of the room, 2 windows and 1 door. 1936 in North Dakota I guess things were pretty sparse!:>) Thanks again everyone, I'll update this again soon...
