I think this is my first post here...not sure.
Anyway, I always check the contest page every month.
I have noticed that the monthly winners are never posted by the 1st of the month. However, the contest page hasn't been updated since May! Whats the deal? Is there still a monthly contest?

Hi shadowfaqs.
Caligari was very busy with preparing for the release of 7.6. There was also a server crash I believe, which required time to recover files and folders.
AFAIK the monthly competitions are still going.

yes, I submitted for the last one - and submitted the same pictures as for June because of the server crash. We should get a July one out this month... Usually between the 6th and the 9th.
No more prizes like we had before (free version of the program etc...) but that doesn't stop me from submitting. For me, it's just a thrill to be mentioned!! |

We'll be catching up this month with a combo June / July gallery. It's still open for entries, though the prizes haven't been announced yet (we still plan on having some).
Cause was as noted - we've been very very busy gearing up for the tS7.6 release, and a web server crash resulted in the loss of the June gallery, and we just didn't have time to reconstruct it in the run up to the 7.6 release.
Yes, results aren't posted on the 1st - anything up to midnight on the last day of the previous month is allowed, then it takes time to view all the entries and choose winners, then it takes time to assemble the web pages, so usually results don't show until 4th or onward in the month (maybe later depending on weekends, and quantity and quality of entries).

I'm a big fan of the Monthly Galleries - as a hobbiest with sometimes questionable ability to motivate myself I always found have the end of the month deadline to be a great motivator. Of course my occasional wins there have been nice but the reward for me is more about getting that motivation and also feeling that I'm supporting Caligari and our community by submitting something that shows the capabilities of trueSpace.
