This is a Five Part Video series on making plants in trueSpace utilizing alpha planes.

The video series covers:
Introduction to what a mask is and to make one
Applying textures using the material Editor
Using the Bend tool
Using Material editors on WorkSpace side
Navigating to directories to find texturesMy apologies in advance for my poor microphone and the lawnmower sounds in video 4. :D

There are five zip files. I'll put one in each thread post.

Once extracted, double click on the "htm" file to bring up the movie. It's FLV and has its own player.

You can expand to full screen by clicking on the icon on the video player menu bar on the right bottom.

Not professionally made tutorials or advice, but how I make plants utilizing alpha planes. :)
NOTE: WMV FILES ADDED
Part I

James there seems to be a problem with all but the first tut.

Download for part 2-5 repeatedly fails about 80% through. Error message says file can't be read?

Be my guest froggie. :)

I'll add some files for the actual objects later in case there are those who just want to drop and drag objects and not mess with making their own.

Hmm, not sure, I checked 3 of files and they opened okay.

Might be the file compressor I used, 7-zip is incompatible with your unzip. 7-zip is a free utility.

I had to make the FLV and compressed, because SWF files are like 90 mb. :)

If it still doesn't work I can put them on my Website or wait and see if 3Dfrog has any problems with them on his website.

Let me know if there are continued problems.

Thanks so much for this, James, it's greatly appreciated.

Igor, the only time I had trouble opening or extracting these files is when I neglected to wait for the download to completely finish. I tried with Windows XP, and Power Archiver, and all files extracted fine.

Added WMV files to each post.

However, the Table of Contents (TOC) and some advanced things like pan and zoom may not work at all in the WMV portion. There are also no controls for the WMV if you open it up in a browser plug-in.

I need to re-work the fifth one (V) as it is over the limit by two mb, need to get it down below 20mb.

Will have the WMV for number 5 (V) up shortly.

Hi James

Have tried Downloading the zip version of the files again. Today they ARE dloading in their entirety. Wondering if the probelm was perhaps an upload bandwidth issue at your end as even now I only get 45 Kb/sec as opposed to the usual 250 ish. Maybe others were dloading at the same time.

As my post said I was only able to Dload 80% of the file. I'll give ya a prize if you can open a partial zip file, double click, treble click, any sorta click you want, if it aint all there it aint opening

Don't know, there have been others that downloaded the files successfully.

I'm on a 12gbit cable connection. 5gbit upload. During the tS download times for videos I downloaded at 14 gbit, so the boost was even greater.

Hello James,

I have tried also to download several times and it seems to be some kind of limitor time-out as it always stops at between 10.4 and 10.7 MB.

The first one went ok as you have noticed from other downloaders. However, thanks for posting these files and I hope they will be downloadable in near future.

James I may be going Gagga here... Excuse me if I have lost the plot.

Unless I am mistaken in one of the vids you imported the plane from modelling side to the workspace... and then did your alpha import stuff.

You mentioned (I think) that there was no option for plane creation in workspace side.(or am I imaging things).

Well there already is the option to build all the usual primitives in workspace.(including plane/plain or however it's spelt)
The option is in the bottom most icon bar alongside the axis locking tools etc.

Shoot me now if I am imaging you saying things that you didn't

Very good tuts, learned some very useful stuff I didn't know... So many thanks for your efforts... much appreciated.

Thanks
