Show off the potential of realtime.
Have a great render showing what you can do with realtime?
Post them here in this thread. |

Here is my latest real time animation test. I have a couple really huge ones that I need to convert to video. Both are over 100,000 real time frames. I need to keep those videos under 100 megs each if I can.

Greetings from Middle Earth:D
It would be great to see more Real Timer Renders here - but in the meantime here's one of my most recent. It's not my best work but does include the results of various experiments using workspace and the TR renderer.
Objects of note: Realtime cloth in the Wizards robe, Real Time cloth also used to make the terrains in the back ground.
The Atmosphere shader is used to simulate volumetric sunbeams as well as several layers of alpha planed 'fog'.
The Wizard character is one I've used before - he started as a makehuman blank and I clothed accessorised him in tS. The Dragon 'Agrond' is a Work In Progress and has been seen in earlier forms in the WIP forum. He contains 70 bones at the moment and 18 morphs mostly on his head.
Finally getting him rigged was time consuming but thanks to the newly improved Weight-Painting tools turned out to be relatively easy to do. Now that Agrond is rigged and I've tried posing him I've concluded there are several design flaws in his underlying geometry which I'm going to rectify at some stage. The biggest flaw is I modeled him with a curved neck - I should have used a straight neck and used the bones to apply the curves. There's a couple of places where I can probably remove a couple of bones too - all of which will mean reattaching him to the skele and another marathon weight-painting session.
Anyway, in the interests of keeping this thread alive I've posted this here. Hope you all enjoy it. As usual I'm happy to answer any technical queries and accept any comments, compliments or criticisms. |

Negative over! I have done a bit of playing around with the poses and morphs - enough to convince me I can do better - so anim tests are a tad premature at this stage. |

Naming them? What, like Bill & Murray & Graeme and Fred?;):D LOL
I just left the naming to trueSpace so they have such inspiring monikers as Bone 1 & bone 2. As I wont be able to apply existing BVH clips to my baby I'm not sure that there is much need for more descriptive names. |

Here is a real time animation capture, maybe something like a preview for a render to file. Anyways this is using the tSpecial-E shader for the moving stars, fire, smoke and water fountain effects. The smoke is also casting shadows and lights are used to simulate fire giving off light. Totally smooth in real time, capturing does take away the smoothness. So far I liked how it is turning out and thinking about putting a character or two inside, what you folks think? Thanks.
Edit: Zip file is the video capture |

nice use of the bloom... not too much. Just enough to give it the right mood. |

Thanks! Yes I like how bloom can smooth out the scene but it can also be rather tricky not to go overboard as well. This would probably be a good example of converting from real time capture to render to file for animated shaders. |

To see how many people will ask about it :) :p. Just kidding. Thanks all for positive comments. Constructive negative comments are also much welcome and needed so that I can get better (hopefully).
The scene was ment to intergrate into training video about tSpecial-E shader, the example objects, moving stars, fire, smoke and fountain seen in video are included with training library. To tell the truth, I am not sure where I should do the training, best guest and most obvious is the Tutorial section but not sure if I need permission to enter content there. I am sure someone here can brush me up on any requirements there.
As a background to the scene, the objects, including the huge door knocker lion wall is from DAZ, was a freebie for Platinum Club members. I did the rearranging of items, made custom materials for all the objects etc.. Main goal was to show case a few of the special effects possible with this shader.
MrBones, I remember those, still look good today as well. |

Noko - your scene looks great but unfortunately I could not DL the zip file - it kept stopping at around 80% of the download!
Here's another shot of my dragon Agrond - he's had his body extensively rebuilt, totally retextured and his skeleton has had more bones added to get a nice curve to the neck. He's a lot of weightpainting but I've just about got him right for posing now. Animating him is going to be interesting!
Hope y'all enjoy him:D |

That's so nice Wiz!
Specially the textures, makes the final, just like out of a poster or film
Guess he had a little to many chilli lambs though :p
Keep up the great stuff, will check your other work sometime...!

That Dragon looks AWESOME W!ZARD!
Thanks for feedback on problematic download, below is shorter version but it has everything important from the longer version. Basically titles have been cut and all the meat left intact. Maybe this will give you some ideas. At the moment it is still a work in progress.
I think I will pm TomG on where to stick tutorial library and training docs/video. Depository, Tutorium or the Tech section? I will see what he thinks first.
Thanks all for the very kind comments. |

Here's a still shot from my recent animation. I thought it might be of interest because of the Wizards glasses which have a sort of realtime psuedo reflection set up on them.
Whilst it's not the same as genuine raytraced reflections (the reflection does not change when you move the camera but it does change when you move the glasses).
I was not aware that this was even possible until yesterday when trueBlue sent me the reflecting glasses. I played around with what he sent me so that I was able to get not only reflections but transparency as well, simply by playing around with links and blocks in the LE.
For those out there who may still think the LE is counter intuitive all I can say is wait till you've tried it for a while and you'll discover it's actually more intuitive than it first appears.
So big thanks to trueBlue and I hope y'all enjoy my picture.:D |

Cheers Noko - I got to see that one just fine. I love the textures and was delighted with the Warp Facter 9 star-field effect!! I could see straight away how you had done it - simply brilliant!! |
