So I was just checking out my profile details here at the forum and glanced at the "Reputation" marks I had been awarded.
The green ones are pretty self explanatory - the red one is also obvious (excuse me for having religious views of my own) but the blue ones are puzzling? How does one receive a blue reputation, and what does it mean? Furthermore how does one give someone else a blue rep?
Furthermore it seems that "W!ZARD is an unknown quantity at this point". I find this to be rather offensive given the amount of time effort and energy I put into contributing to this community.
Over 2300 posts to this community and I'm considered an unknown quantity?
If you consider that I am a worthy member of this community please feel free to award me some green rep. If you think I detract from this community please feel free to give me some red rep. If you know how to give blue rep and what it means please feel free to give me some of that too.
To be honest I'm not feeling the love here right now and I do not wish to be contributing if my contributions are of no value.

I've noticed that when you hold your mouse over the little balance on the top right of one's messages, it says "add to reputation". I've never clicked it though...

Something wrong with your monitor Wizard. Your reputation is green, I've checked it in Member list. What is the colour of the font you use?:D |

Yeah it's green so presumably I'm not a complete jerk! When I hover over it however the little tool tip type pop up tells me I'm an unknown quantity. And I always thought I was one of the good guys!!;) |

If you click the balance on your own post, it says how many reputation points you have, and if anyone has added to your reputation because of that post, and it also shows the comment they left...
Strange but I figured it out so yay :p

If you sort by reputation (thanks trueSpaced I figured that bit out) and go to the last page, hover over the green squares you'll see 7 folk who are unknown quantities and one with a disabled reputation - which sounds really bad!!
At least one person has added to my rep this morning giving me over 10 points - I suspect that was enough to put me back on the right track (or the Distinguished Road!) |

Still come out higher in rep than I do, so I wouldn't worry too much :) Actually I never even remember that setting is there and pay it no mind, so I wouldn't worry too much about it anyway.
(Of course I would say that, since you have higher rep than me ;) )

Wow! I've gone from the last rep page to the first rep page in one day and doubled my rep in the process!
Thanks folks I'm feeling the love now! I'll just go and cancel my appointment with my shrink - I'm feeling much better now!!;):D
Mind you, it doesn't seem right to have more rep than Tom! I think I'll go and spread some love around!!:D |

I was vaguely aware that there was a reputation system available on the forum here but wasn't aware than anybody was actually bothering to use it - so I haven't been paying it any attention.
With an influx of more users - some of whom may be active on other forums - I guess we may see it crank up in activity but it's probably better just to ignore it anyway.
On a previous (drumming) forum I was on, it was used pretty heavily - and abused too, and people got rather obsessed about their ratings and would drop hints all the time about getting more etc and counting their little green boxes (usually, when you get more than a certain number of points you get more and more of the little green blighters...) Friends would endlessly rep each other to boost their scores or give neg rep all over the place just to bring other folks' scores down...
Unless there is a widespread shift to it being used here I'll continue to ignore it - no offence intended to W!zard or anyone else; there's plenty of people here worthy of the points and I would happily have been handing them out for the last year or so if I thought anyone was actually paying attention! Most people round here know who's helpful anyway and the registration process means we have very little problem here with trolls or idiots that warrant a lot of negative rep.
NB - the person who has disabled reputation probably hasn't done anything wrong - on some forums you can choose to simply disable it in your user-cp settings - all it usually means is that you couldn't give a stuff whether you get any or not... probably because you've been on other forums where you have seen it abused or over-emphasised. |

I never gave it any thought nor did I know you could view members in any sort of order other than alpabetical...:o
I come in at a paltry 17th but ironically I have the most posts on the forum so I top one list at least.
