Here is a huge city scene 1500 frame animation in real time display mode. Goal will be 5 million polygons. No problem so far on my lowly laptop (which I did tweak windows xp).

Jhowell 700 000 polyygons is nothing ....

The problems for workspace start at 5 000 000 polygons !

There is always more to what can cause trouble then poly count though

youd have to look at other factors like textures etc. but worksapce is good

no question.

I previously did do 1.5 million poygons animation but will go much further. Animations are harder on poly count it seems than a single picture. I will get to 5 million soon and see what I can do. The anim below I did have super sampling on, bloom on, antialiasing set at 2, 7 lights, textures, etc. So I did throw quite a bit at it with no trouble but again it is only 700,000. Maybe we can start a high poly real time ANIMATION thread to see how people are doing. :banana:

It goes well over 5 million polys and has no lag what so ever !

Some of those buildings are all modeled with windows not bumps

one of these buildings has 1 million poly !

This was just a testflythrough and is nothing that looks good

didnt have the time to make something better in half an hour

but it should show that even camstasia runs through those

in realtime flawlessly

This could be about 8-10 million polys

Hi Rayman. Thanks for the millions of polys test video. That is encouraging. Now I have to up my goal to a 10 million 100,000 frame real time animation. I have done several 100,000 plus animations but not with a high poly scene. Now that would be fairly impressive. :banana:


It goes well over 5 million polys and has no lag what so ever !
