I just made a tutorial on the Moi3d website on exporting to Sketchup

and this applies to Truespace as well !

While programs like Truespace and Moi3d are extremely good at

rounded shapes including nurbs and subdivision surfaces , Sketchup is

excelent at making block typ shaped objects and arraying on top of these.

Only few people know that these 2 worlds can be excelently combined

together and there is a free version of Sketchup that does all that.

You can then render with a few options including reimporting or direct plugs

like for indigo or Kerkythea or Vue for detail see the other Sketchup thread here at this forum.

Note that Sketchup draws or build upon both flat surfaces and non flat

but you want flat surfaces preferably.

You build your objects in Truespace with a planar surface (i.e booleans)

and export via 3ds.

You then delete all the extra lines on a planar surface because they dont work in Sketchup and only break apart a surface.

Use the eraser tool andhold the left mousebutton while you scrub away

all the lines while you move the mouse.

After you have done that you hold the ctrl key and use the same tool

and scrub over the lines on rounded surfaces extinguising the lines and

softening the rounded shapes. In the end you should only see the outlines.

You can now build upon the shapes you made in Truespace with Sketchup

using all drawtools as if you had done everything there from start.

An example can be a whole shipdeck done in Sketchup on top of the

nurbs bottom done in Truespace ( see nurbs tutorial on the truespace courses

site....)

next steps....

It can be as detailed as a Titanic buildup on a Truespace bottom !
