I realize that the trueSpace business is in a state of flux what with the new owners and all, but with the release of 7.6 (for Free, can you believe it?...), the plugins page on the Caligari website has gone away. For those of us who do not have all the plugins yet, I want to know if 1) they are being sold through some third-party vendor (and if so, who?), or 2) will they return to the Caligary website. I see references to several of the offerings (IPak, etc) from time to time in these forums and would like to jump on the preverbial bandwagon. Thanks. |

The plug-ins will not be made available here again at the Caligari web site. If third parties are selling their plug-ins, we will see what can be done to promote awareness of those to ensure people can find plug-ins that are available for tS.
There are only a few I am currently aware of - the free Primitive Itch ones (Googling those should turn it up, or a forum search); Mr Bones and his BVH collections; Dribble. The last two are very well promoted here on the forums (and indeed anyone else who has plug-ins can do the same).
It's not impossible that in future other new plug-ins will appear for direct sale through the Caligari website, but that will be different from the old ones simply making a reappearance.
BWT, iPak functionality is built in to tS7.6, you don't need that as a plugin any more :)

Tom, what about Caligari ones like Solidify? or does 7.6 treat imported meshes as solid at last? (I work a lot with imported meshes... so it's kind of important...) |

As I recall, Solidify hasn't been necessary for a while. Let me know if you do some tests to see how it works. AFAIK the need for it disappeared maybe even in 6.6 though I forget for sure, but I do know I haven't used it in a long time, nor seen any requests for it.

Here's the post from earlier, specifying that Solidify has pretty much lost its usefulness, just as a caveat before downloading and installing:
