Now you have your text on the tire and the tread. All that's left to do is pull the text a little way out from the tire to give it definition that follows the tire surface and render. Hope this helps!!

Hi All; Mr. prodigy I am following your truck build and am trying to do it as well hope you don't mind. I am using ts6.6 and am only using cubes and boolean subtarct for most of the stuff. Here's a pic of what I've got so far. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You. |

Hmmm. I wonder if it got corrupted when I zipped it. I've had that happen before. Maybe I saved it higher than Illustrator version 8.0? I don't think so. Let me try again. . .Not that it matters, you did a great job on the tire you made! Try this one and see if you get the same error.

Hey dr22,
I use winzip which you can get free here: www.winzip.com. It says 45-day Free trial, but it doesn't really expire, just has a delay before opening past that date.
In the file, there are two shapes. The tire profile and a simple "V" to cut out with. When you save out just the profile itself make sure to export from Illustrator as version 8.0. trueSpace doesn't import later versions correctly.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more problems.

I thought that file was fine. Must've just been corrupt. You put a lot more detail into the tread than I did. I really like what you came up with. How did you differ from what I posted?

I have ts6.6, is that the problem? I don't know what 8 is and I have no program that I know of that use's ai. file extsions. Help. Thank You. |

dr22,
.ai is an Adobe Illustrator file, and should be able to be opened in most vector drawing programs like Corel Draw. You can't open it like a scene file in trueSpace. You have to open it as an object. Then it will come in as a plane with the shape as it was made in Illustrator.
Try this one. Since you don't appear to have Illustrator, I took the cut shape out of the file so, when you open this object in trueSpace, it will just be the tire profile.
Sorry Prodigy for taking up all this space on your thread.

Dr22, you must think the AI (Adobe Illustrator) over TS6.6 works ONLY if you have TS for Illustrator Plugin... Or, use TS7.11 or wait the new version 7.5
TS for illustrator its a good option...
or maybe try to search some software to convert the AI to Post Script file format..

I think there is a bit of confusion here. The file that I uploaded can be brought into TS6.6 (and under) as an object. Simply select "File" and then "Load" and then "object". Navigate to where the tire.ai file is and click okay. this will give you the shape we've been talking about. You do not have to have the "TS for Illustrators" version in order to import the shape.
Let me know if this helps.
