IMPORTANT: THIS IS a proof of concept, a work in progress Beta.
Whether you are a model builder, make textures, or build characters or props. Perhaps you like to sketch, or maybe you can extract that perfect render. Now and again do you wish someone could just show you - in realtime - how they did that rig, maybe show you an easier way. Compare meshes and chat in real time voice about why it might look better this way or that way.
Do you wish you could see the tools being used right there in front of your very eyes, and all whilst texting or voice chatting FOR FREE, right when YOU want, and about what YOU want, and with who YOU want!
Well all this and a whole lot more is about to be possible!!
We are glad to announce a beta version of
TRUESPACE SHARED SPACE - NOW WITH REALTIME SHARED ICON TOOLSETS
SO, what is all this good for:
tuition and online classes
troubleshooting and problem solving
collaborative modelling projects
distance no longer a barrier to realtime 3D collaboration
Creation of viable global Commercial 3D Companies through collaboration. Arc Viz projects for remote customers. Collaboration on full 3D movies and division of labour across borders.
Prototype demonstrations to customers via collaborative partners involved globally
Not included, but available is the use of Skype for voice communication during collaborative sessions ( see links below ) - all free
Also ( not Included ) FREE realtime screen video capture ( see links below )
Their is no other 3D app at any price currently on the market that has these new capabilities.
One on one collaboration, modelling demonstrations for groups, swapping out rigs, models, textures, Architectural visualisation, the list goes on and on.
Whats to stop us, the TS users, making a collaborative movie?
Whats to stop us running realtime classes on modelling etc?
whats to stop us from creating commercial 3D companies with World Wide collaborative members
As of now, well nothing!!!!!
REMEMBER - It's a proof of concept beta, not perfect, but we are being given this as a base on which to build as we wish.
Did we mention we can add our own tools, what about links to external programs.. Its all there for us the users to run with. This is a genuinely unique opportunity, and has so many possibilities it's just hard to grasp in one go.
What will you do with this. We reckon in 1 minute you could think of at least 5 things!
Ok so do you want to try this out now or what?
First have a play around with the concept - offline so to speak. To do this, download the scene file attached below ( approx 1.2mb zip file ). Unzip, put it in one of your libraries in TS. Open TS and load as a scene like any other, have a play. Happy.. Of course it couldn't be simplier
And now for the online realtime version - ok start a new scene. Now log on to shared space and use the beta test portal which already has the new Shared Space Shared Icon scene set up

Please delete any meshes you create before leaving either area.
REMEMBER THIS IS A PUBLIC OPEN BETA!!
OPTIONAL THINGS:

Looks very nice! Good to see the 3D toolbars idea come to life. Just to summarize from inside that long thread, you can now join a shared space with the tS tools shown in the 3D space for shared learning (you can see what tool the other person is using).
To join, the instructions are:
Start a new scene. Log on to shared space and copy and paste the link below into the link bar at the top of the chat window:

Please delete any meshes you create before leaving either area.

Interesting and quite collaborative. :)
Only problem I would have is Steinie "bogarting" the sweep tool. :D |

That is Very Groovy Sir Paul Ashington! Very well done!
And Very Well done to Aidan and Igor! Sweet!
Being able to hold collaborative modelling sessions and meetings in shared space using the in-world tools should really make a difference. Seeing the tools selected is a lot easier than trying to explain it: " click the leftmost button in the lower right corner... blah blah blah ... "
Very Cool Indeed!
Question: Are All of the Workspace tools available in that in-world toolset? If not the current working ones can be saved to disk for analysis, to understand how to add the rest (maybe this is what Igor was referring to, about scripting support).
BTW we need more Smilies in here, like the Worshippies please. :D

Many thanks for the support guys, and a big thanks to Splinters for stepping into the breech last night for a last minute screen capture session. An unwitting filmstar in the making!
Frootee yes you are correct in your assumption. All but two of the icons are functioning. The scene, icons and associated tools represent a working blueprint so to speak for how to add the further functionality and tools. But it doesn't entirely end there. There is a further ability to call some external progs/ apps or whatever from within the interface. But here Aidan and I are over our heads, and will need to call in the experts to do your thing. A true case for collaboration if ever there was one.
No doubt Paul may be able to add some further information on the subject, as it is at this point Aidan and I have to rely on you specialists for the tech stuff, we know our limitations :)
With regards to Steinie, not a problem.... a weeks worth of clearing out old models every night will soon help him see the error of is ways lol only joking :D Missis mop of the online world
Will pm some of the more technical info to anyone that cares to have a look over it. Just drop me a pm when you get a minute.
Cheers

Quick heads up for anyone thinking of doing an collaborative anims or whatever
Have found a nice little well thought out free app for all the pre production stuff.
Props
Scripts
storyboards
shared file update area
cross referenced lists
From what I have seen this makes planning, scheduling, storyboarding and the whole procedure a whole lot more organised.
Cheers
