Show us your pets!
I don't have any pets but these ants live in my yard. Since attempts to eradicate them failed we have a truce. I don't intentionally step on them or try to poison them and in return they don't bite me.
If I had time to make trueSpace pictures I'd post some but I'm starting a business and fixing my roof.
Please post appropriate pictures in these threads too:

Sorry to put a grim tone on this but this is my dog Candy who was killed earlier this year in a car accident.
I posted it because we have another chocolate labrador who looks identical so there would be little difference in photographs...:o |

This is bugsy. He's a dutch rabbit, about 8 1/2 years old, I think. He lives in the house with us and while rabbits aren't supposed to like heat he loves lying in front of the coal fire when we make one.
Originally it was supposed to be a hamster or a gerbil but my wife, then fiancee was worried we would squish it and we went for the rabbit. His favourite things are being held and petted, and running around the back garden. |

Wow, some very cool critters!
Here's our little old man - His name is Kryten - after the Robot on Red Dwarf.
He also has a veritable plethora of other names including: Larry the landmine - due to his tendency to explode when you step on him, Vommo the Chunder Cat, due to his tendency to throw up at random. Dog, as in Yo Dog! ghetto-speak - guaranteed to get a dirty look from him, plus various other appellations too numerous to mention.
He turned 15 last month so he's getting old now. He is very placid, in fact if he was any more placid he'd be comatose!! |

Howie and Fudge - We've had Howie (the Basset) since 8 weeks, he's now 1 yr and 3 months - Fudge is a 'rescue' we've had for 3 months, we think he's around 2. He's got some 'Beagle' issues we're trying to deal with, but I love 'em.

Okay, here's a pet I have currently (a young cat, about 6 years old,). His name is Simba, as in The Lion King movie, in the first picture. He is cuddling with a stuffed bear called Snuffles, and he is sleeping on our clothing.
The following are pets I don't have anymore:
The next one is Patches the guineapig. We had to bring him to the vet when I was about 13, because Patches was very sick with a tumor, and the vet told me we had to end Patches suffering by "putting him to sleep". I was crying then.
The next one here is a picture of my two guineapigs. They were always squeaking whenever someone would make the slightest noise, and they would both squeak in harmony. I sadly gave them away, because they were too much work. Guineapigs may be cute, but they make a lot of mess! The white fluffy one I named Misty, and the little black one I named Tami (BTW, she is my avatar, and my username, tamtam, was actually a nickname for my little Tami). They are both girl piggies.
Last, here is my hamster (of course, when she was alive). She had died possibly of seizures, and lived over 3 years (that's old for a hamster!). There was no vet or medicine that was specific enough to treat her. Her name is Twinkle, or Twink as a nickname.
I didn't mean for this to be a sad story of my pets, and sorry that most of it is not really uplifting. I just wanted to cover all the pets I have/had in my life so far. |

Nice!
Is he a Belgian Shepherd?
(looks like it)
We picked up our Tervuren Belgian Shepherd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgian_Tervuren) 'Barney' at the dog pound...or did he pick us?
Best.Breed.Ever.
I don't think they knew what he was, and neither did we for a while, we all just thought he was a mutt.
Smart, affectionate, clean, comical, poetry in motion when he runs, I could go on and list pages of his attributes.
16314
you will give me a milkbone. you will do it now. look into my eyes. you are powerless to resist.
Since we went in there looking for a golden retriever puppy, and came home with a shepherd instead, we had to go back a second time.
This time a 'Labragolden' pup came with us... mom and her soft heart just couldn't say 'no'.
Unfortunately, he came pre-infected with Parvovirus.
He spent a week at the vets and pulled thru, but our 'free puppy' cost
$ !@#%.00 in vet bills!
Now 'Duke' is 90 pounds of shedding, snuffling, farting love.

snifsnifsnifsnifsnif
Together, they make a great 'Wheelchair Pulling Dog Team'... I hook them up to mom's chair and all I have to do is brake and steer.

I love rodents, but sadly, they don't live long.
I was named (by my family) "the official mouse catcher", because I pick up mice by their tails (yes, I am somewhat brave, but if it's something dead, that's nasty), and then I throw them into our bushes, with hope that it doesn't deal with me again! No one else in my family would do that, even my cat! Well, my cat chases the mice that stay for the winter in our house, but he's too lazy to put them outside. It might be just that he's an indoor cat, but he's also a very big cat! My cat needs to loose a lot of weight.
He looks at us like Puss In Boots, from the movie Shrek 2, but only when he's feeling greedy about treats and food, that might be part of the reason why my cat is fat. He gets too many treats, and he does his 'prairie kitty' trick just to get more. When I say 'prairie kitty', I mean my cat stands up on his hind legs, just like a prairie dog!:D |

Hiya.
We just got two new ones; two kittens (they are 14 weeks old now), Frank and Leonard. No pictures of them yet, but here's one of Syn...
http://myimgs.net/images/epho.jpg
In this pic he's about 8' off the ground trying to chase a squirrel. His other favorite pass time is chasing rocks; throw a rock anywhere and he'll try his damndness to get it (even diving underwater to get it). |

OK our pet,
The reason we got a cat was a tearful request from our younger daughter to have an animal that would reach its first birthday. This after a succession of hamsters that lived for 10 days (birth defect) 9 months (escaped and ingested plastic) and 2 months (tumour), respectively.
This is Trixie as a new kitten and approx 1 year old. She is now 1 and a half and so has at least fulfilled the critera laid down re. longevity.
The name came from the children not the grown-ups:o
