In the Mesh Editing Settings Panel is a switch for the Show Triangles command.
If you select it you get your mesh represented in triangles, with it off the mesh is how you created it.
Sometimes it appears when you have the switch on the geometry is effected by this, sometimes not. Despite my searches I am not finding any info on this, does anyone have the info to enlighten me.
Are all mesh triangulated? and this is just a on/off switch?
Is this just a visual indicator or where the mesh could be triangulated when saved
Sometimes the tris seem to effect my geometry and creating new geometry sometimes not... anyone have any idea about this?
Thanks for any help, I am just trying to figure out if I am doing this wrong, not understanding what is happening, and how I can plan for this.

Yes, as I understand it, all objects are triangulated behind the scenes in tS. So that option allows you to see what tS is doing behind the scenes there. However, if you were to export your objects as a .obj file or something, you would not see those triangles on the exported object. I believe it triangulates behind the scenes in tS for the real-time rendering. |

Thanks Dele, I suspected something along those lines, but I just was not sure and I did not know where to look :)
Thanks

But is there any way to stop tS triangulating in the first place? I had a lot of trouble with the brake discs on the Ducati model when tS7.0 was released. The holes in the disc (which were booleaned out) were randomly filled when triangulated...:o
I forget how we got around it... |

Splinters , theres not too many of those holes that actually go through in 7.6. on your ducati scene.
what I always did to get holes to show cleanly was use edges in a pie shape for round objects like the disc so there will be more that one face, best if there are edges intersecting each hole :) |

It maybe the way that I am working this, but using a plane (single sided, created on the Modeler side and brought over the Bridge) seems to confuse this after some period of time. Than afterwards everything is converted to tris and maybe not visual, any time you use one of the selection tools the element you are working with (plane or edge) of the tri's becomes a selection...
I have ruined many meshes this way...
I'm going to reload TS and see if that makes a difference.

Fresh install, everything is back to normal... I'll keep an eye on it and hopefully it doesn't do it again.
