I have a question. See the example video on youtube. I made character grab on to pole and swing. But had to do it the slow key frame way when character got to pole. The running and jumping to the pole was bvh of course. What I really want to do is have character run and jump and GRAB pole with the bvh animation THEN add a PROCEDURAL PHYSICS ANIM CLIP to the POLE AND TO THE CHARACTER and let Truespace work its awesome physics magic. However, Iam stuck on this one as to how to attach character to pole when it grabs pole at that moment in time. Couple other programs I use I can do it in but am a little stuck in Truespace. Any advice? Thanks Much!

Cool anim,

A couple things come to mind,

One is Wind-bones attribute and another is using the cloth attribute as it has a way to lock the selected vertices.

I will post more info as I can find it.

Cheers

Have you tried using the "Attach object to bone" tool?

Not sure if it would work though.

It sounds like you should use Physics Events. There is a scene "3DSoundBall" in the Scenes - Base library that demonstrates their use. They are very powerful and can be used to trigger tS76 commands and or scripts.

Thanks for your suggestion j90. I use attach object to bone all the time. Wont work for this. I think trueblues post that he posted might be the ticket. I will check that out. :jumpy:

It didn't work?

Yea, trueblues idea is a good one.

How did you make the pole bend so well?

Hi j90, Pole bending was easy. I just created a tube and put a skeleton in it. POSITION locked the base and using dynamic pose I moved and keyframed pole. What I want to do is more complex. When my characters GETS to the pole I want to attach him to the top of the pole (or top bone) AT THAT GIVEN FRAME. Then add a dynamics procedural clip to the pole and to the character starting at THAT frame. Then by using some "dynamic" position constraints the pole and character would sway and move naturally while the procedural clips are building the physics frames. I made it look pretty natural just by manually keyframing pole but Truespaces awesome dynamic procedural clips and dynamic constraints should be able to do it automatically. hmmmmmm :jumpy:

I thought that is how you did it. I wasn't sure though.

Thanks for letting me know :)
