lol - then you will have to do better next time. These guys are STRICT! take two months to get a video just right. You will have to get all textures, lighting, and animation as perfect as you can.

Then again, if there are only 3 entries, you still may not win, so hope that you are the best out of a few or many.

:)

Unfortunately, Kena is quite right. To win the animation prize you really need something quite special. Try downloading some of the previous winners from the Caligari archives to get an idea of what you need to do or even view my winning entry from the link below:

Chuckle! There's a sort of Catch 22 thing going on here I think. Caligari don't get enough gallery entries to constitute a real contest so they don't award a prize. Because they don't always award a prize they don't get so many entries..

They do award prizes far more often than not though so just keep trying.... the more entries there are there more likelihood that one will win a prize!:D

Wow! You're a Wizard and a Diplomat. IMO, I though your animation entry was a worthy winner as it clearly showed trueSpace's abilities. Direct X rendering, facial morphs and a truSpace logo to boot. What more do you want! At the very least it deserved to be seperated from the other entries by gaining Special Recognition status. In fact, I thought the same last month as well. How your entry, which clearly delighted and amazed the tS community judging by the posts I read; was ever beaten by someone just dropping and dragging a bhv file is beyond me (no disrespect to the winner intended, just my POV). Hardly an inspiration for me to continue my Future Fighter project. Think I'll just stick to the SMC, I can afford to loose 4 hours of my life every now and again.

None taken,

Maybee they took into consideration the soundtrack and comedic concept.

Hardly a drag and drop of a bvh, there was considerable camera and titling work involved.

They say brevity is genius.

:o Well thanks Breech Block I appreciate sentiment:D. Actually I never expected to win anything with the animation - I mean, it's a bit kiss-arse and grovelly with it's trueSpace advertisement angle!!:D

Additionally, I've been at this for a while and have won many other prizes in the monthly contests. Like ivampretti I wouldn't mind a copy of Vray one day but there's plenty of newer users who really could benefit from the added incentive. If older and more experienced users users keep winning the prizes that can also demotivate others from entering.

If I was to win a prize id prefer it to be for my Dragon picture which I think is bloody good for a Real-time rendered image - even if I do say so myself!

Finally, although my latest anim did not win, nor did my anim from a couple of months back I did win the animation contest in February so I can't complain really;):)

I've often felt that choosing the monthly winners must be a task that Roman and any other judges must actually dread. If they pick a winner there's always people who think they picked the wrong one.
