Hello
I am having difficulty opening TS files. If TS is open and I try to open a file nothing happens.
If I try recent files, nothing happens. |

Need more info - what type of files are you trying to open and how art you trying to do it? What happens? Something must happen - ie tS fails to start up and no tS screens appear, tS starts up but no objects or scenes appear etc.
The more specific you can be about what is happening (and not happening) the easier it is for people to provide specific assistance. |

Thanks
TS strats and runs with no problem. TS will save files. When TS is running if I go to "File" and "Load" I get a window with my saved files, I click one and nothing opens. Also, I can go to "Recent Files" clik a saved file and nothing opens.
Also, if TS is running and I go to "My Documents" and find a TS file, cilck it, it will open in a new TS not in the TS already running. |

Yeah clicking a tS file in windows will open a new instance of tS - I think this is deliberate so that you can edit your newly opened file without having to close your existing scene. I always load object files from the tS libraries though as I feel I have better control that way (I don't know if I do, it just feels that way!:o)
Also (and please forgive me if you are already aware of this) tS is essentially two separate 3d apps with separate file formats - the model side uses .cob (Caligari Object) files for it's models, Workspace uses RsObj (Rosetta Object) for it's models. Each side can only open it's own format - though once opened you can if you wish, move the model across the bridge and save it in the other format.
Same thing applies to scene files - model side .scn files can't be read by workspace which needs RsScn files - although you can use the bridge to save the scene file in the other format.
When working with tS it's pretty important to make sure you are using the right file type for the right side of the bridge. Reading between the lines of your post I'm wondering if you are attempting to open Workspace files with Model side file tools.
I'm hoping this is what's causing your problems - if it's not then I hope someone else will chime in with an answer....:D

Be careful what you are saving if you use the Save As - the file type may default to something other than RsObj (object) or RsScn (scene). Eg if you save a ctx then you are just saving your set up, not your actual 3D scene.
The default is a ctx, and that won't save your scene. I prefer to save to the libraries, where it is easier to save and replace and ensure you are saving scenes or objects and less likely to forget to change the file type.
HTH!

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!... setups?
I suggest we start a thread in the 'Feature Suggestions' titled "What should be a default setting and what shouldn't?"
BTW, welcome back, Tom.
Did you get a chance to finally wear your Wellies? |

I dont own any wellies any more (if it wisna for yer feet in yer wellllies), and I did manage to get drenched in the driving rain in my ventures outside to check on things.
Yes I am a big proponent for wise defaults :) Will cast a vote for this to be changed.
Thanks!
