Adobe announced PSCS4 and all the CS4 tools yesterday. The new version of PS is said to be faster and incorporates the newly introduced 3D layers that were introduced in CS3 much better. Also After Effects CS4 can work with these 3D layers much better than in previous version also...
What does it mean? I am not sure, but it looks like Adobe is looking to get their programs working in the 3D world better, and this seems to be their direction now... It certainly has attracted some attention.

Extended looks like it should be an excellent upgrade. The upgrade price should be a better
than $349 from CS3 Extended though.:( (little too much greedish there Adobe).
Would be good to get a hot link going with tS. -:)--;)- |

A hot link would be nice, I thought the UVE in WS did do that though, I am probably wrong though, PSCS3E is not working on my system right now.
I put an order in for After Effects CS4 though, I am really looking forward to using that and PSCS4 together. Adobe is really pushing to blurr the line between 3D and 2D work. Now with the added HDR tools and the better panorama tools with the better 3D layers it should make a nice upgrade and a good combination for 2.5D work.
I agree on the price, but people I have talked to that were involved in the beta seem to think it is worth it for what you get in speed and better integration of the key features... We'll see.

While adobe have a monopoly they can pretty much charge what they like. You've got to give them credit for staying so far ahead of the pack. There's still gimp, which is serving me well enough not to buy PS, but if I had the spare change I would definitely get it.
It's a shame MS don't have a crack at making an image editor, they're one of the few graphic companies left with the financial clout to take on Adobe. |

Here's an action sequence I hotkeyed to F2 key,
1. flatten layers,
2. save as png over tS temp file,
undo/redo edit to wherever history takes me...
Sorry to hear PS is giving you grief.:(
By hot link I mean live paint type stuff. |

Just came back from the Photokina trade show and must say
I´m impressed with the new features this program has !
3d has been revamped to an extent that you can now paint and
projection paint in 3d.....
The coolest feature of Photoshop now is the smart scale feature
that lets you squeeze your backgrounds while Photoshop lets your
foregrounds untouched.
Example when youve got a group of people on the beach and did 1 sided
scaling before youd get funny looking people... fat if you scaled horizontaly
and thin if you scaled verticaly. The software lets the people untouched now and only ads Sky and background now.
You wouldnt believe it if you hadnt seen it !

I am holding off with purchasing Photoshop CS4 for a couple of months, but I did get the After Effects CS4 upgrade (I was using AE 6.5 Pro which I purchased back in 2005)... very nice upgrade, I am going thru the tutorials kthat are in the book by Trish and Chriss Meyer After Effects Apprentice
http://www.amazon.com/After-Effects-Apprentice-DV-Expert/dp/0240809386
The beauty of AE is the way you are able to use 3D content and 2D content together in one animation. With PS and AE with TS you have a very powerful combination... With the ability to move cameras back and forth between these 2 applications you would have a wonderful ability to really do some great animations... There is a script for C4D right now... can TS be far behind? :)
Let's hope.
