I've seen a few tS7.6 layouts now and I've noticed something of a trend - some folk like to keep the screen as uncluttered with icons as possible - similar to the default layout. In contrast, others seem to create big banks of icons so that that most, if not all available icons are arranged on the screen.

Now, what I know about UI's and how they actually work could be written on the back of one of Splinters icons ;) but it occurs to me that having a big cluster of icons visible - as opposed to task specific icons that only appear in the appropriate context - must use more system resources.

I'm guessing here but wouldn't a new default scene with nothing yet added require less system resources if the layout has most of the icons hidden until required, than a layout with multiple banks of visible icons?

Obviously the overall efficiency of these different layouts would depend on the individual user and their preferred workflow but as far as the actual computation goes wouldn't the emptier layout be more efficient?

The real question I suppose is; Does the difference in overhead required in a heavily iconed layout make a significant difference to that required in a default icon layout?

Thoughts anyone?

I doubt it would use much resources as it exists there in the build; you just hide them really but I have no idea for sure...only dev's would really know I guess...:o
