My congratulations to all the Artist that participated in this Months Gallery. From Seavu's "608 Bearing" model which we requested he finish and he did big time, Wizard's "Uninvited Guest" fit right in, Witch's mystical "Links" weren't missing, Theuns "Castle" made it with a cool POV, and Weevil hit a grand slam home run getting four renderings in with the "Viper", "Delorean" and "Lightsaber" I was really glad to see the return of the legendary Spacekdet and his realistic "Moble Gas Pump". Great job all.
There were even more entries but I just didn't know their Forum names. I can say the Forum made a nice showing this month.
If it wasn't for Wizard would VE exist? He needs competition! Was there only one entry again?
The animation department was owned by one person this month with 3 entries. If they weren't entered would it be blank? Curious...
The winner of the Gallery Still looked really nice. Architecture seems to be the focus lately. Eye candy for Halloween.

Hm... I'm not seeing the Sept gallery yet. I'm on the East coast along with Steinie but a bit further south so ... maybe the DNS humavumah whatever they are called have not been updated yet?

Lookin forward to see it.

When I am done with the fluid sim plugin I want to make an animation for submission.

Lots of realism going on ... some really good stuff, skilful in multiple ways - always a plus. Michael's pump and Katherine's interlocking shapes look very cool. I also like Stephen's car and the other Stephen's VE Rocket - way to go W!zard! How about something from you next time Splinters?

I did promise I would try this month but I am so far struggling to find any time especially as the school inspection is looming...:o

I will try though...not sure what it will be yet. I am determined to make something 'non-Buddy World' but that is taking up all my 'free time' at the moment.

I thought there were some good entries this month but if being honest and hyper critical, some were not such a good showcase of tS' abilities.

Well...There was a winner and a runner up this time. What can I say?

Well done to Spacedekt for the gas pump, that was good, I find it kinda strange though that the winner then got two honourable mentions for the same room...why not group it all togther in the 'winner' box?

Anyway, W!zards entry was pretty damn nice along with Thenus's. So well done to them

I on the other hand am suprised that my speed model entries cut it...Must have had some serious verbal acrobatics in my description!!!

You might be interested to know that the description is not used in the judging :) The artwork is always judged on its own withour reference to the text accompanying it (the judges haven't even seen the text at the time of making their decision).

Thanks for the kind words about my entries, congratulations to the winners, good on ya Caligari for selecting a winner in the image section this time round.

In fact, good on ya's all around to those who got involved.

There were a few folk with multiple entries - that's cool but what about those folk who didn't enter at all? Allowing for those who submitted more than one image there were only 9 contributors to the image gallery - one of whom walks a way with a valuable prize! C'mon you other guys, where else can yu enter a contest with 1 in 9 odds?

Never mind the sheriff - support your local gallery!

How about you Steinie? Wish to see your VE entries for October gallery. :)

Thanks Johny.

Last night I checked out Wizard's Rocket and Pad. He put in amazing details for being a VE entry. I was impressed.

I just know he is shooting (pun intended) for that VRay prize but with no other entries he will unfairly keep losing.

I have a few ideas and have tried to upload an object before (and failed).

The "Gallery" and me don't get along anymore.

maybe i will enter VE this month, just so W won't feel so lonely and allow him to win, unless i win of course ;)

but haven't been able to get into VE either so perhaps I could ask somebody to upload it for me and give me an url for it???

BTW, on the 9 contributors to the image gallery point, not necessarily true. Not all images sent in appear on the page, even as Hon Mentions. Some don't make it onto the page at all, meaning it is never clear from the results page just how many people entered the contest.

So, only 9 people were chosen to appear on the page is the only conclusion that can be drawn :)

Um... :o Confession time! Seems there WAS a prize awarded for my first VE entry but I was inadvertently not notified (place has gone to the pack since Remy left!!;) (not really but too good a line to not use!)).

Anyway, the upshot is I have received a copy of Vray for my Wizitch Tower entry in August, thanks to Tom sorting it out for me and I'm rendering animations with it as I type.:banana:

Dunno if I get anything for this months VE gallery - not sure what a US GPS road mapping tool is good for in New Zealand and I don't have an Xbox - shrug, but as I've now got Vray I'm happy as a clam.

However, don't let that put you guys off entering stuff in VE - it's easy to do and great fun. It's kinda cool being able to go to your own virtual address and see your own models there in 3d (I am SUCH a geek!) and there must be lots of folk out there with finished or partly finished architectural models they could upload. I'll be doing it regularly myself just for the fun of it!

My advice is to get in quick before Adriani starts posting his architectural models to VE!

Might it be a good idea to have all the entries listed? Just to see what people did and how many there were? I would like to browse through all the entries...

We won't be showing all the entries :) Remember the aim of the gallery is to showcase what is judged as the best, and only the best. If something doesn't make it through the judging process, we don't want to put it up on those pages. May sound tough, but that's the way of it.

Of course people are free to post here and say "Here was my entry, looks like it didn't make it" etc.

I think that is a good idea Tom. Would allow forum members controls of what is seen and judged by others....:)

makes sense, perhaps mention it on the contest entry page in passing that they can post it on the forums themselves?

not crucial, would just be nice to see

I just saw my entry made it into the gallery. Thanks for that! First time I ever submitted to a contest. And thanks to Bill Gates for the great Christmas present in July (free tS). It's just what I wanted. p.s. The name on the full size picture is correct. The thumbnail is not.
