...I find myself increasingly relieved that Roman got Caligari purchased by Microsoft not long ago. (I know, I know; I'm surprised to hear myself say this, too...! ;) ) With credit issues and so forth being what they are these days, it's difficult for me to believe that Caligari would have been able to weather the storm if it didn't have the recent large infusion of liquidity from MS's deep pockets. And aside from my own enlightened self interest of wanting tS to stay available (even if it's doesn't end up remaining free for all future revisions), Roman has always seemed to be a good guy whom I would've hated to see brought low by the economic chickens coming home to roost. :) |

Good point Jim. It would have been very sad to see Caligari disappear. tS has been good to me over the years (as has Roman and co.) and it would be like losing an old friend...:o
Glad they are still around...now, where is that patch? ;) |

It will be interesting to see what happens to everything in the next 1 to 2 years (though the effects of this are likely to be felt for generations). |

Generations? I think the human greed and stupidity that lead to this situation will be with us for as long as we have greedy, stupid humans.
On a more positive note I just hope the 'Powers That Be' have the sense to step away from the totally free market financial model to the slightly regulated but mostly free market model. There is a fine line between too much regulation and not enough regulation and that middle point is where the financial system should be poised IMO.
But, hey, what do I know, I'm just this computer artist guy.... |

Unfortunately the human greed thing has been with us for as long as the human species has walked this planet... :(
We can only hope at this point, unfortunately the same people that are supposed to get us out of this are the people that got us into this... ain't that a kick in the head...
Think I'll go render something :o

I was someone who was a bit non-plussed (that's confused, not disgruntled) about Caligari's sale to MS, however it does seem in hindsight to have been strangely prophetic. |

Should we all face west to the great mecca city of Seattle, Wa and thank the great software mega conglomerate MS for saving us :D
I am glad TS is safe for a time anyway, it has a certain homeyness in on the WS side that is not available with other software.
