Just a note to thank the users of this forum that participated in the AniCrop beta testing program. Your help was invaluable and greatly appreciated.
I would also like to notify the community at large that AniCrop has been released and a free demo is available at www.AniCrop.com

Maybe you could have screen-grabs, or possibly even video, of the features discussed in the front page, perhaps on a separate demo page if you want to keep the title page clean.
Otherwise, I think putting the faq on the front page is a good idea. Simple things like this don't happen on enough sales websites imo - I hate digging for info. |

Thanks for the positive feedback. Overall the beta testers seemed to enjoy it, most of the feedback was very positive. But it's hard to be sure of what people are actually thinking. Unfortunately, given today's prevailing culture of political correctness, people are brainwashed into believing one should always be nice and positive, and never be critical or negative. Of course it's nice to be nice, but there is a lot more to be gleaned from sincere criticism, rather than insincere praise. The latter case is like having a grotesque booger stuck to your face and nobody telling you about it in sensitivity to hurting your feelings. Being negative to deliberately hurt someone is bad, but being positive in a deceitful way, no matter how well intentioned is just as bad. It leaves no opportunity for growth to either party. We were actually a lot more interested in what people did not like. If you want to improve something you can learn a lot more from what people hate. |

Thanks for the feedback. Screen-grabs of AniCrop are a bit weird since the main display window takes up the entire screen, and the control panels are very small in relation. Also its not possible to convey what it's like to work with video and animations in AniCrop from a screen-grab, it's different than working with something like Premere or VirtualDub.
AniCrop was developed as a companion for TrueSpace, that's what inspired the full screen interface. As much as we love how TrueSpace has evolved since the early days it's too bad they drifted away from full screen, edge to edge. That was the main feature that set it apart from other software back in the day. My ultimate TrueSpace experience would be if they left the full screen and had all the controls in a separate window so that the display was completely free of icons ect. Since we work with dual monitors this would be a real pleasure, or a slide-out window would be close.
We may add a 'How To" page for the website if we can find the time. Demonstrating what AniCrop can do is an issue in itself. AniCrop is such an odd smörgåsbord of features. In a sense it is very simple but there is actually a whole lot you can do with it.
Normally when developers begin a project they have an idea and then design that idea into what they think will make a great program. AniCrop on the other hand was never planned at all. It started as a cropping tool specifically designed to increase the productivity of our in-house work, and as new needs arose we just kept adding whatever features we needed as we needed them. It wasn't until about 4 years later that we ever thought of releasing it as a retail product. |

After using it I see what you mean - I like the 6.6 interface as well.
I think this is a really nice piece of software, very simple and intuitive. Seems to be very quick as well.:) |

hi miwtech
where can i download the trial version? i couldn´t find any link in your website...also you should consider adding something like CONTACT or FAQ in simple html, i mean when i click on General Inquiries it tries to open Outlook which i don´t have installed :(
also look at other sites that promote software to be tested like Softonic
http://video-edit-magic.softonic.com/ (http://http://video-edit-magic.softonic.com/)
and you´ll see there´s a lot of info that you could add and make it more interesting..anyway i would like to try AniCrop! |

Thank you for your interest. We took the demo off line for a bit to make some changes. AniCrop is primarily for editing bitmap images. It bears a closer relationship to programs like Photoshop rather than full featured video editing software. When working with video AniCrop extracts single bitmap frames from video files to work with them in bitmap format. Extracting untold thousands of single frames from large video files is cumbersome to say the least. The video features in Anicrop were intended for short clips such as might be used for web pages ect.. We have since limited video extraction to 1000 frames, but those 1000 frames can be extracted from anywhere within a large file. The time it takes to perform the extraction depends on the size of the file. For files approaching 1gig it takes several minutes. The demo has been re-posted if you want to take it for a test spin. |
