The latest version of 3Delight has been released over at http://www.3delight.com/ (I was able to install the new version without requesting a new license) but if you install it you will also need to update your dribble shaders.

Steps to upgrade:

1. Stop the 3Delight license server if it is running

2. Download and install 3Delight 8, over the top of your existing install

3. Download this file (http://truespace.coolpowers.com/files/3deshaders.zip) and unzip to your 3Delight shaders directory (probably c:\3delight\shaders\) overwriting the files

You can now render with dribble properly again. I haven't tested exhaustively, please post any problems.

Cheers Simon, everything is running normal but the fur does not seem as good as before...maybe I have to tweak some settings.

Also, I had a texture mapped onto the fur and now it is rendering plain brown...even when I change the colour of the fur itself!!

Here's what I mean. The left image shows the texture applied and the right image shows the fur shader on the bump channel. Whatever I change it still renders brown...:o

Not sure where the shadows are either.

That is really weird (so is the spelling of that word:p) I think I might hold off a little bit before upgrading then since the fur is so useful.

It looks like the fur shader was missing in my upload. Download and unzip the shaders (http://truespace.coolpowers.com/files/3deshaders.zip) again and it should be fine.

I've had some issues with GI. Considering DNA have made changes to it for 3DL 8, it's proably not surprising. Anyway, here's some test renders:

1: Plain GI; intensity 1

2: GI with AO; intensity 1

3: GI with AO; intensity 5

4: GI with Photon; intensity 1

5: GI with Photon "more accurate"; intensity 10(!)

It also crashes when I try to caustics on the sphere with a glass shader, every time.

I'm having problems with this update.

The Dos window (license server) shows that I am getting a license with no problems. I installed the new Shaders in the c:\3delight\shaders\

The information section of Modeler tell me a render is taking place 0%-100% using 3Delight and Dribble.

But the screen doesn't give me a render.

Also if I render to file the render is Black.

I also uninstalled 3Delight and then reinstalled.

I'm not sure what is the problem. Any ideas?

Hiya.

I had the same problem (black screen). Now I have a new one; it renders, but with no shadows, textures, GI, etc. I've downloaded the "corenell" box scene above, and hit render.

Any suggestions?

You have copied the required/updated shaders into the 3delight directory? Restarted the machine? Reinstalled dribble? (Sorry if I'm asking the obvious.)

Hiya.

Yup. DL'ed the v8 3Delight, the new shaders, followed the instructions perfectly. The "licserver.exe" is running in the background, no errors anywhere to be found. It just doesn't seem to render GI or even colored lights. If I make a light, blue, red, green, any color at all...it renders white and with no shadows.

My dribble info is:

v.1.04wip061408

The options I have checked are:

-- cache override [X]

-- always ray shadows [X]

-- (irradience) enabled [X]

-- ALL options under the "enviro." tab are [X]

-- all the numbers and settings not mentioned are 'default'

...Maybe I need to 'downgrade' to a lower non-wip version of dribble?

Thanks for any/all help guys! :)

Sorry but it beats me. I did the install a couple of days ago - but really haven't tested it out yet. Just made sure everything was installed and the license was working - did a basic test to see if the hair was working and that was about it.

Shadows and coloured lights you say. I'll give it a go tonight when I get home (I'm just about to leave work.)

BTW what version are you using - I've got the 32bit vers of 3delight running. Are there issues with the 64bit vers?

There's a newer version of dribble out, maybe that will help. I'm having some issues as well, I think we may need an official 3DL 8.0 version of dribble to fix them.

No problems here.

Get new 3Delight, install, install shader update, check you still have a license. Reinstall Dribble but make sure you have the 1.04 080808 version.

It works just fine.

Have you tried my gi test scene? I'm also having issues of no lights except the spotlight casting map shadows.

Not completely sure but aren't there issues with certain lights with dribble. For instance I can only get a shadow from a fur covered object with a spotlight not a local light. Perhaps GI has similar limitations.

After all 1.04 is a WIP.....:o

You might be right about the lights, but I think the GI definitely has issues.

GI was changed for 3DL8 so maybe this is why. I'll so some more tests and see what I can figure out.

I think I found issues with the fur shader. I have finally had a look and it seems fine if you texture a whole model with it but if you do individual faces, it doesn't render.

The fur looks awesome like.

Great, I am sure all feedback will help Simon and, in turn, all of us dribble owners.

Now I have some free time I am going to mess some more with dribble.

Have you tried copying the face then applying fur to that as a separate object?

Nope but I'm sure that will work. Was just messing so it's not that important. I have to say though I now fully appreciate workspace...going back to model hurts...

Didn't get to have a go at some dribble rendering last night as I intended. Maybe tonight?

Simon, what is the current version of dribble?

Yeah, Simon...what is the current version, where can I get it, and do you have a new email? (I emailed the address from the 'coolpowers' site, but it bounced).

You should have been e-mailed a download link from Cool Powers when it came out.

Dang...gotta check my spam filters now. Hopefully the email I sent him (not the one that bounces, obviously) gets through.

Thanks!
