Just thought I would post more info on how easy it is working with Poser to Truespace for any new users coming in. Below youtube animation was done in a few minutes. Exported the characters and BVH anim files in to Truespace. 2nd part of the animation was tricky having character grab swing. But I used a little keyframing and attach hand bones to bar. All rest of animations were bvh files I purchased or got free from web sources. Here is my workflow for Poser to Truespace.

1. Export your character from Poser via obj and import in to model side Truespace via LUUV obj import plugin.

2. Export the animation from Poser as a BVH file.

3. Import that BVH in to workspace side of Truespace.

4. Take the bvh file and insert it in to the character mesh (then attach skin to skeleton) that you imported from Poser. Should not need much if any weight painting as the bvh skeleton from poser should be just about perfect proportion to the imported poser character mesh. Thats what is so great. BVH skeleton will match up perfectly to character mesh as Poser did all the scaling of skeleton to character.

5. Now you can go back to poser and make or import more bvh animations. Then import them in to Truespace and grab out the ANIM clips from the bvh files and insert them in to the animation timeline. Drop as many as you want in to the timeline. Very fast and easy animations.

Hi moogaloonie. Its just so easy. No morphs involved. Just take your character in poser and add some animation to it (or import any of the thousands of bvh animation clips available for free or fee on the web). Then do what I mention at beginning of this thread. I dont work with poser morphs and such. Just strickly keyframe and BVH importing.

TS7.6 Free has new morphs included in it and would be very easy to add some morphs to the poser character once inside TrueSpace.

It may be even possible to write a poser morph importer.

But I think morphs are easy in TrueSpace.

Morphs are essential for moving a character from Poser to tS. All of the expressions and visemes are achieved through morph targets. A typical figure can easily have 30 facial morphs in addition to the body shape morphs. I tried exporting a custom figure once, but in the end all I had was the unmodified base mesh.

Hi moogaloonie, Morphs are NOT essential for transferring figures from poser to TS. I haved done many many characters from Poser to Truespace. I only use Poser to transfer poser characters with their associated bvh animation files. Morphs I have not figured out yet (I would love to have the facial animations and other morphs). But poser characters and their bvh animations is a breeze. Here is another I have done (this is the poser FREAK character with the Tree that comes with Truespace) ...

Hi Guys

Just a couple of questions, about this thread.

first i see i need the "LUUV obj import" plug-in, i have been right through ts7.6 and as i cannot find it, so do i have to get the plug-in from a web site, if so can anyone please let me know which one?

I know i can export, a poser character into anime pro, then i can move separate areas of the character (hand, arm, head, legs, etc), can i do the same once a character has been imported into truespace. Or do i have to do all my animation in poser.

I ask this because i would like to animate the character, moving around a room i have designed. interacting with the items in the room(sitting on a chair, watching TV, looking out the window etc).

If any one can help it would be most appreciated

Hi Miles, No problem with the help. There are a lot of helpful people in this forum. I started using Truespace 21 years ago and some years would only use it a few times. But I never gave it up because I like it so much. Been using it a lot more last few years. Anyway... the Luuv plugin is on the MODEL SIDE. And all you need to do is turn it on. Just go down to the bottom icon that says plugins and look in there. Then load it.

LUUV is provided with trueSpace7.6 as noted - you need to go to the Model (legacy) aspect and load the plugin using the Load Plugin icon, then choose the LUUV.tsx. This will create a new icon on your toolbar. You can right click the icon to adjust settings, left click to load an object, and ALT left click (I think it is) to save an object.

HTH!

I can see how the morphs aren't necessary for body posing, but how are doing expressions and talking without bringing them over?
