From another thread, it's obvious that I'm very anxious for shared spaces to get moving. I've got lots of ideas. :)
I thought it would be interesting to see what others think about rentable spaces though. Do you think that Caligari should offer rentable 3d spaces? If so, would you use them? Please vote in the poll here and let Caligari know what you think. Also feel free to elaborate on your thoughts in this thread. ;) |

Free maybe but they should be requested and 'granted' rather than a free-for-all. |

I personally think that we should be able to use our own severs...
We should be able to change the usable TSX any way we want... |

I think it would be nice if they were free. Caligari could if they desired to monitize it, sell advertising on billboards that they would place into free shared spaces, and these billboards would be locked down, could not be edited, or deleted from the space. (Maybe one would have to go through the advertising room, to get to the shared space?) |

By the way, you can get a world developer tool here for free, and it allows import of truespace object, or objects and can then save the result as a .wrl type file, and then all you have to do is put your .wrl file on a web page, and notify exitreality of your 3d world, to get it served for free by exitreality.
So this will allow you to create your worlds in truespace, and then export them as worlds that work on exit reality. Only use the import from truespace option, and export as .wrl options on the program.
But remeber, truespace defaults to 32 segments for spheres, and an extreme amount for the automatic landscape generator tool. Therefor its best to use the mesh polygon reduction tool on landscapes multiple times, and on objects, or characters at least a few times, because users of these worlds are used to much faster worlds than caligari shared space worlds which are usually slow, because they use so many polygons. (they could be fast too, if persons just reduced the number of polygons they use for their scenes, but so far, this does not seem to happen much.)
Another strange thing about exit reality, you can enter any web page address, and see that web page as a 3d world, that your avatar can walk through.
Get the tool here at this link

For a Free tool thats especially good at making animated avatars, try seamless3d at www.seamless3d.com
Its quite a different interface than truespace, so it will be a bit hard to learn at first. Just watch the tutorials that come with it. Its really quite easy to make animated avatars that work in .wrl type worlds such as exit reality with the tool. |
