I think an explode tool would be convenient for Truespace

The way I see the explode tool working is:

1. Select an encapsulated object or encapsulate in 3d

2. Select the explode tool

3. Boolean Union is performed on all object geometry automatically

The second implementation would be similar for selected objects

1. Select a set of objects

2. Select the explode tool

3. Boolean union is performed on geometry of all objects combined, automatically.

It's a simple script, simply select each element and union to the next in line, I think... I know that something can easily be done with the SDK, I just don't know how to use it.

P.S. When you said explode tool I thought you meant take a complex encapsulated object, like an engine, and when you press the explode tool it moves everything out from the center so you can see what it's all made of. Kinda like in some of those car/game commercials.

Sounds a bit like a reverse explosion :) Rather than everything flying apart, it becomes irrevocably fused together for all time!

Well there it is. At least that's what you seem to be looking for...

The displacement tool comes close to being an explode tool, if you get the settings adjusted just right, but I think what we need is a tool that will convert every face into an object, and then move those objects outward from the center of the original object, and in the direction the current face is orientated.

See a Chiristmas ornament get exploded by the displacement tool in my tutorial on displacement mapping tool in forum work in progress, topic cartoon factory.
