Looks like Flavio had the same idea as me...looks like a mini showcase. Nice to see a variety of images from both us being picked rather than just one. I think it makes the gallery look more colourful and varied.
My congrats to Flavio on some great work....:D
Oh and thanks for choosing me as a runner up. I am glad the new images got in there as they are from a big exciting project I worked on with Zachary...hope to have some news about it soon.
Those are killer heels though...:jumpy: |

I agree - it's very cool to see so many good images this month. Nice to see you'd got a few up your sleeves, Splinters, that we hadn't seen before. The one with the little girl in the 'chapel' (or wherever it is) is great and I can see it 'borrows' from Little Cloud, if you know what I mean - very effective and such a great style.
And those shoes are very cool...
And good to see some other familiar pictures from the forum from Weevil, theuns and a few others.... |

Cheers Nez. That is the Spirit Room from the Emagine Nation University project I worked on. The client was impressed by the Little Cloud book and wanted a similar look for this project;hence the similarities. I even adapted the little boy character to suit the look of the project.
Zach is doing the 'darker' elements. It is a big and impressive project which I can't wait to share with you all when it is revealed. |

This Month's Gallery seems to be the largest that I can remember and showing a great number of styles and subject matter. A really nice showing.
Nice job everybody.
p.s.
Those shoes are outstanding! I love the flow in design and layout. Colors are perfect for the subject matter. A real Pro job.
p.p.s
Major Tom to Ground Control, there seems to be a problem with Virtual Earth, we've lost contact with the Winner... |

No winner for Virtual Earth this month. Folks need to be sending in more entries, it's a shoe-in to win since competition is less intense there than in the other categories at present!

Those shoes are indeed excellent!
Has anyone managed to transfer a prize to another tS user? Is it actually possible?
I used to like winning books and stuff like that. I know Flavio has Vray and I don't have an Xbox nor need GPS road maps...:o
Still, it is the chance to get your work on that page that encourages entry and I did need to put my money where my mouth is and enter something rather than passing comment on others efforts.
Perhaps it is just conicidence that I got a runner up prize in such a good month but I think the quality is really there in this gallery (and I am not referrring to my entries, just overall). |

Congratulations to Flavio and Paul. These showcases look fantastic. Flavio is a class in its own, but I like Splinters work a lot because of its originality.
Many entries this month, good to see that so many people are busy making good stuff, inspiring!

I have been guilty of quite harsh comments about the gallery which is why I entered this month. While I appreciate the kind words, I would be interested to hear the comments of others who, like me, have felt that the standard has dropped at times. |

Must agree with all the previous comments, the entries this month for the gallery were the best in a long, long time. Glad I wasn't a judge on that panel. What is more, not only was the quality extremely good throughout, but better than that (IMO) was the sheer diversity of the work. I think some credit must go to the Caligari team for listening to the opinions and concerns voiced on the forum and I think they must be very pleased with the communities response to their change in policy. My only disappointment was I would have liked to have seen the animations in a higher res (Any news on the file size for submissions being raised). Lets hope this does not prove to be a flash in the pan and that the gallery goes onward and upward from this point.
Once again, a big pat on the back and many congrats to all those who took part. |

Yes, we're considering raising file size for animations, news on that as it happens. We too hope the community keeps up the great new level of submissions in both quantity and quality. Judging was indeed tough this time around! We hope the quantity of entries grows for animation and Virtual Earth categories too!

Well you could have a "Special" Contest for one Month focused on one of those categories to raise interest. Whoever wins get featured on the front page of Caligari web site could be one option.
As far as lack of entries for Virtual Earth, I personally need a "reason" to do it. So far I haven't been given one. This could be what is preventing others from submitting too. Just a FYI |
