I saw this question http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?p=85765&posted=1#post85765 and I felt really happy because I developed a script ("Controle Pistao.RsObj") to control a cylinder and now I can help .

Some things are in portuguese because I did this for me a long time ago. I attached a Scene for an example of how use it, any question I'll be glade to answer ;)

Hope you all enjoy it!

ivampretti, a while ago someone wanted to create a spring compressing. There were a lot of theories on how to accomplish this. You might just be the man for the job. Any ideas?

This would benefit anyone thinking of animating the suspension of a car as an example.

@Steinie - is this the thread that you saw?

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=6564

this thread was created by me :D. Many ideas were suggested but I took the morph idea, it worked the best for me.

you just need to model a spring (helicoidal is the name of the shape of a spring in portughese) in her non compressed form. Then you apply a morph to the spring making her on the compressed way.

Here is a test Scene for you to play, you can use the spring object I made, but it is not perfect, it was just to test if it work. Any question be my guest :D I need to compress it, I dont know if you will be able to open it because I had lots of problems downloading compressed files from the forum. you can download the video I posted for a preview.

Yes it was you!:o

I'm glad you figured it out. This method could come in handy in lots of ways.

By the way if you strip a thread in an Engine Block you can insert something that looks like a spring and it is called a "HeliCoil" which looks similar to Portuguese word for spring.
