Thanks for a great response Paul. Interestingly I've actually already finished a 'stormy sea' scene and submitted it for the gallery. I'll be interested in any comments you may have asd I think I've covered most, if not all, of the points you mentioned. I went back to old photos I had of stormy seas off the West Coast of the South Island and used them as references.

To make my wave geometry I painted a wavey texture with The GIMP (which is rapidly becoming my second favourite program) and used that to make a displaced terrain in Vue 5 Esprit. Vue's terrain editing tools allowed me to fine tune it and then export the result as a .cob which I then textured in trueSpace, using, as you did, procedural textures. I'm quite pleased with the result and I'm hopeing Roman will be too!! ;)

Thanks again for the input

Stephen

Congratulations, W!ZARD, for winning honorable mentions with your images. How long did it take to render that stormy sea image?

Thanks i-maker. To be honest I don't recall how long it took to render. I do know the render time wasn't too bad compared to some of my pics. This one did have a degree of post processing which I did in The GIMP. Post process was used to enhance the sea mist along the coastline and to add a little more life to the bow wave. I did have some bow wave spray on alpha planes but they looked a little flat.

For those who wish to comment I've posted it in the Completed Artworks area here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?p=23931#post23931).

Please put any further remarks there, thanks.
