Hi folks. Quick question here.

Has anyone run into issues with Collada export? I just started experimenting with it and want to make sure it's solid.

Thanks!

Well if its not Jack is making a plugin for the workspace that should

be able to read all connon collada file and write them.

He has been doing some research on this and is the person

to ask I think.

I ran into the problem of no Collada import....:D

That would have been usefull to read the Sket5chup - google earth files

because they are zipped collada...

But I heard of some problems with different collada slangs..

There seems be a problem with exporting the skeleton with animation. When you do you just get back a .dae file thats 1kb that can't be right. If I export the skeleton itself it works fine it may just be the animation checkmark that doesn't work correctly. Either that it ts didn't support exporting skeleton animations which if thats the case I hope they put in just a little time into adding that feature. I test this with blender but blender has it's own collada issues like skeleton binding (you have to get the newest version of the plugin since the one that comes with it is old).

nevermind, stretchy bones has to be checked.

ok thanks Asem.

Hm.. stretchy bones? Now, what in the world does that mean anyway? I wonder if that needs to be renamed to something more meaningful.

Now that you mention it RichLevy, the stretchy bone thing sounds right. Though it might be a good idea to have the regular also just in case since it's mention in the manual that not all apps may support it.

Another thing I find interesting is the key panel I kinda wonder if that affects how the animation is exported? I've noticed that you're allowed to have almost anything keyed like animating the change of a light color by keyframing it.

Ah ok. Thanks Rich. I haven't looked at the IK options in quite some time. So that explains it. :)
