I know this is a TrueSpace forum, but I also know that there are Vue user's here... soooo, is the upgrade worth it? I use Infinite V6 now, it's cool does many things I find useful, better control of the water is tempting, better clouds looks cool, and better eco systems... is it worth the 395.00 price for a dl upgrade?

What do you think?

A friend of mine does some amazing work with Vue7 Infinite, mainly panoramics for a cubic room game, she rates it very highly..

Isn't there a education version you try hidden away somewhere?

I have Vue6 Infinite, I was just asking for some personal experiences... kinda a review thing.
[edit]
Good idea on the demo, right now they only have Vue 6 up... it might take them a bit longer, I am sure they are still pushing Vue7 out the door.

Thanks

Its pretty simple Rich if you want to stay on the update path then they sort of force you to update sooner or later because there will be a Vue 8Inf that

builds upon 7 and a 9 that buils upon 8. Thats the intention behind it.

If you ask me if i do it ! YES I will !:D

Same with Sketchup 7 Pro. but thats just about it I dont want to update anything else for some time.

Next will be Moi 3d around middle of next year.

Feature wise I think its worth it too ..;)

BTW !!! You save a lot of electricity because Vue 7 should render a lot faster....

Hmmm... I just have too many cool programs to upgrade, I am no big fan of the ones that force you to stay on the yearly upgrade path... Why can't everyone be like Adobe? They are cool with 2-3 versions back with no penalty. I'll hang tough till the demo comes out than see how I feel.
How do you like the new sketchup? I have been playing around all morning but I really do not know the program all that well.

Havent played much with the new SU myself but the feature to inteligently scale and ad detail is pretty cool....

Those 3 programs are just the most important ones apart from Truespace

so keeping up with the updated is pretty much a given.

Because most of the animation soft falls out and I am pretty much only

making my backgrounds for my photography.;)

I spent very much money this year on cameras already with d700 and H3d

and there is a d3x right in the door.So I will be set for some time.

I got to earn some of that back soon...:D

Thank god I´m a professional photographer and not a full time 3d artist.

I learned thats its most important in life to focus... so what I update first

is what I use most and that boils down to what I said before.

Kerky is free so I´m pretty well set in the render department although I love products like Maxwell etc. just out of my budget....:D

Whats so cool about the new vue is that it upmost saves you time and

its not only features. As I dont have that much and get payed per hour

(and per job) I have to calculate that way.

I only got 1 fast computer and a 5 year old one so when I render I cant work...(+plus a laptopbut that doesnt count)

Vue was very slow at rendering and any improvment boils down to more renders that I can do in the same time.

Thats what I expect from the updates...:)

Camera equipment is another area which can be pretty expensive. I have most of the lens that I can use right now as for fl... I may upgrade a couple of them to faster but that would only be 2 lens that I would consider right now. That Canon 5DMKII is another, I am on the waiting list for that...

I think I am going back to school, with the economy in the toilet right now, there just are not too many good paying jobs out there so I might as well position myself to have the right degrees when things start to move again.

Peter... I am playing in new Sketchup7 right now, I am trying to find your link to the ruby script for OBJ import/export, do you know where you put that?

Thanks.

Hi Rich ! Have to find it but as i am working with the pro version didnt

need it and it wasnt a good ruby script !

In fact its better to unzip the google earth file (yes its a zipped collada ) and use that . I tried it with Blender and it works.

But I will look it up for you !

Its in the Sketchucation forum under plugins but I sort of cant get in there

from this computer it doesnt let me use the search engine..
