Hi there
Do anyone have any ideas of how to make a decent looking christmas tree?
Or where to download one that works in Truespace?
I was thinking if it could be done with the hair system, I need to be able to have individual needles visible. |

I do have one and will post here in a bit. A christmas tree using hair is a good idea too. |

A Chrstmas tree to kill your CPU - http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/9041/1002ls5.jpg
Cylinders, planes, texture and alpha map. It doesn't look as good as I wished and takes ages to render. That's why I gave up.
A christmas tree using hair is a good idea too.
Indeed, a furry tree is the next thing to try. |

Here's another version of a Christmas tree. This one also uses alphas. Click "show backfaces" in the setting panel.
There's also ornaments for the tree in the zip. Double-click the tree into the workspace then double-click the ornaments in and they'll come right in on the tree. :)
Without the ornaments the tree is about 1.3 mb. I've included the texture maps in the zip so you can also try creating your own tree. |

Snow and Ice shader by Marcel Barthel
It is nice that you named me but officially there was no public release for this shader. Stuff I post in the Beta forum is restricted for Beta users only.
At least a request would be nice. |

Hi and merry x-mas.
I would like to thank especially Heidi for all help.
With your tree I managed to make something that I could use as a base for an invitation.
Thanks!

Nice Xmas tree Heidi! :) Using Norm's Point Cloud script, I've included Realtime multi colored flashing lights/vertices. |
