How did the UV map go? Just in case there is no UV space for the object? If that fails, I can only think of checking export options from the other package, and import options for tS, in case there is some setting that would make a difference.
Thanks!

Did you try reapplying a UV Map yet?
If you use the Material Eye dropper what material does it show? |

Okay, I know even less about UVMapping Editor than anything else so this is going to take me some time. |

I hit "Cubic UV projection" for the heck of it, but no change. I do not have much experience with the UV Mapping Editor.
It shows the correct leaf texture and the correct trunk texture.
I appreciate everyone's help in what I hope is NOT something stupid on my part but I guarantee you, it won't happen again :D |

Yes your right it renders perfectly in vray and it comes in well in realtime view
but it renders purple in Lightworks !
I tried next to everything but it doesnt go away.
When I apply materials and clip maps in Kerkythea I see no problems
either so the UV mapping shoud be Ok !
Very strang !:o
Maybe we should post the files and the textures here 1
The strange thing is that the clipmapping even works in Lightworks.. |

It does not matter what texture you apply to thoes trees it never works. I even delted the leave off of one and just had the bare tree and applied a bark texture and it always shows up black with LW. Now I did not try it with Dribble. That is why I had to use Dryad for my tree in my MMC. |

Interesting. So if I want to use these trees it looks like I either need to get Vray (not bloody likely) or use VirtualLight as my render engine.... or find another source for trees. I like Dryad as well. Maybe I will give that a shot again. |

could you zip up a tree and texture file that turned out purple and black so I can see what happens when I try it in lightworks? |

I will render with dribble tonight, unless somebody can beat me to it. If that works then dribble is very affordable tahnoak. |

Heres the scenefile
Looks like you need to include some textures with your scene.
It also looks like the trunk is missing a material. When I import your scene and look at the tS materials in the Link Editor, they are not hooked up properly. You could try and use the Archive function in Model.
I would like to see the purple tree too. |

Well hope you all get better soon! I'm feeling pretty dreadful too....
On topic - I know nothing about this, I confess but I wondered whether perhaps the purple you were seeing might stem from it applying the Caligari texture to your leaves (for some unknown reason!) instead of the one you wanted? It is purple after all and there may be some mix up somewhere....
But that is pure speculation.... |

Possibility. I was actually trying to use GIMP to identify all the colors and the variations of colors to see if maybe the render engine was filtering the green somehow. It seems to be only rendering the red and blue (when it comes to the leaves). Let me try and create my own leaf with a mask (unless rjeff already did that, I don't recall). |

There was at one time a bug in the Diffuse for the workspace side that rendered colors dark.
Does it still exist when X format is imported? |

Well I tried it all Tahnoak, it always did black. I just did a test render in Dribble and it did it fine. Now am just using a bare tree, but the results in LW was the same reguardless of if it had leaves. So you may want to invest in Dribble. I have not tired leaves yet. I knwo there is a trick to make planes render properly in Dribble. |

Just as a point of clarification I do all my work on the model side. |

Anybody ever use this package:
http://www.onyxtree.com/index.html
Looks like it can do a lot of stuff with trees and grasses, not to mention flowers. |

I would think this software is for Professionals after checking out the prices. Way over my head!
If I was Frank Lloyd Wright I'd consider a purchase.:) |

I most certainly would not even consider getting most of the stuff but $195 for the tree generator does not seem like a bad price unless I am missing something. I would also be interested in the grasses (for yet another $195) but compared to xfrog where you only get what they have and you have to buy another package to "tune" the trees it seems reasonable.
Oh yeah, and another $195 for the Conifers....hmmm, maybe you're right Steinie... |

Hav e you tried out Arbaro yet Tahnoak ?
You have to have java installed for it but Arbaro is free !
You can start with the presets that are in one of the install folders.
You can make trees with very low poly up to very much.
It can be tuned at to even make cactuses !;) |

I have arbaro and installed it a while ago but maybe I have an old version or something because I did not have an interface, I did not think. It was all command line and I did not like that. Maybe I am thinking of something else. I have so much sh*t downloaded ;)
I'll certainly play with it some more before I make any purchases. I doubt my wife would authorize the expenditures anyways :D |

Arbaro has an interface and is not command line but it needs some
experimenting to get the specimens out of it !
Its basicaly very much like xfrog.
like I said open the sample files first that come with it its realy simple but it can be REALY powerfull.....;)
If by any means you have some pocket money left invest it into a good landscaping thing like Vue its got very much that Truespace doesnt
and its a GI render engine now that Vray is gone .. |

I will check it out some more. the read me told to run the java command to bring up the gui but the problem is the java_gui.jar file was not present...hmmmm, always something. Just in case.....I have been given authorization for the purchase of the other package if I want to....hmmmm, wonder what she's up to ;)
Edit: Okay, readme was wrong (or I interpreted it wrong) anyways, ran the java -jar arbaro.jar and the interface came up. Pretty nice one too. As soon as my render stops I will import the tree and see what I got. |

http://povray.tashcorp.net/tutorials/qd_arbaro/
heres the wheat rendered in vue with ecosystem.
i didnt have time to texture the wheat though only colors.... |

Just trying to do that !
I still have to ad the materials so I have to split them up.
they should come in as root branch and fruit.. but Truespace is very slow at that thats very much why i render in Vue or Kerky:D |

I have not had a lot of great success with Kerkythea. I have that installed as well. Either my camera angle is off or everything renders so small... |
