Just working on the caricature for now, needs some cleanup. Still have to do a front, side and back view for use in 3D space. Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the House for the US Congress for people not familiar with her.

Included the Vector Wire frame as sometimes drawing the artwork is as hard as the 3D work.

Making a political cartoon for a friend. :D

Slight update on the texture, some skin aging mottling added, slight high lights. 3D will come soon I promise. That is if I don't get my shift changed again. :(

It should be interesting to see how you transfwer this to a 3d format - please keep us updated with the progress.

Well, won't be for awhile to make a 3D figure. Still have to draw different views, front, side, back.

You never use image planes when you make a model?

You do realize that I draw in layers in vector, the hair can come off because its on a separate layer (actually two layers) and I can use just the face configuration/outline if I want.

Oops my bad, should have drawn a plane or a flying saucer. heh

Depends on what I'm modelling. There is no doubt that reference images can be invaluable. If you intend to make a series of reference pics, (front back side top etc) then that will certainly help to get the 3d model looking good.

I also think that keeping the hair seperate from the rest of the character is usually the best way to go - it gives your more options and flexibility.

As to wether you should draw a plane or a UFO it's certainly NOT your bad. As the artist you have the unquestionable right to create whatever you like - that's why it's called 'artistic licence' :D

Interesting image here, but at what stage is this relevent to TS? do you intend to make some kind of 3d model? or is this just a vector drawing done in other software?

Oh well, I guess concept drawings are not wanted in Works In Progress thread. Okay, won't post concepts here anymore.

I removed the offending art.

Norm, can you delete this thread?

I missed the images so I can't really comment on the subject matter itself. :(

As for the topic of rough drawings and such... I think of concept art as a stage in development. As such, it could be a good opener for a new project thread in the WIP section. I've seen other folks present preliminary drawings of what they hope to model.

Without seeing the concept art I hope you reconsider sharing your work with us :)

lmao you tulk that rather personally, if it were indeed a concept drawing, you would surely not be going any further, you might have also produced front, side and top views of the head as opposed to an angled image. These images tend only to be sketches, applying colours and even textures etc is not really necessary. As this is a Truespace Forum I was merely wondering if you actually intend to make a 3D model, or just intend to work on a vector image for a month or something

Come now jamesmc, you know we value your work. You don't need to do the post, delete, post, delete thing here. We're all here to learn and it benefits everyone when you contribute.

Evidently Matsowki or whatever your name is, you don't know what a 3/4 view is nor are you familiar with a vector program that can be drawn in layers.

I can treat each thing I draw as an object and extract it out as I wish.

If I want to use the eyes, I can leave the eyes in. If I don't I just make that layer invisible

The problem with your restrictive thinking is that textures can only be applied from one view. Or even that from a 3/4 view that a portion of an ear can be applied as a texture so there won't be any empty seams.

I have another program I use for applying textures, displacement etc., I don't need to be one dimensional in my thinking when it comes to applying textures.

It's okay, I'll do this project on my own and with my own methods.

May I remind you that the hat left on the table has nothing to do with describing the person that may have worn it.

Oh yea? well you took the hat too!.....
Stop over reacting to everything that happens here. You, I or anyone else here will always have different opinions. Sometimes their opinion was with good intentions and sometimes it is to stir up trouble. The maturity factor comes into play by how you handle it.

Maturity factor eh?

How many here are 60+ years of age?

You don't know what I know or can even pretend to know what I know.

I dislike hypocrisy. When someone else does the same thing I do they get no comments questioning why they do it.

Sorry if I'm not part of the gang and if they don't want me to edit my own posts; then they should remove the ability for me to do so.

Next time I'll throw in a 3D cylinder extruded once, so it can be called 3D art.

jamesmc, may I see what you've put together? You can PM me instead if you wish. Only if you want to of course... I'd just like to see where your project is headed. Sometimes more fun to watch them develop is all...

P.K.

wow, somebody is offended, its Matski by the way you can see it written correctly on all my posts but whatever

Implications that I am stupid are quite offensive to be honest. Clearly age doesnt produce maturity as I have seen here.

You will find that people producing images for then creating 3d faces would not use a 3 quarter image, there is little use other than for reference.

I was merely asking as to the direction of this project, you might have benefited from using a different forum more educated in the use of Vector software, I presume few of us are here because we are TS users.

Go ahead and post a cylinder with extruded face, but dont be surprised if i have beaten you to it, such a good idea, i cant afford not to steal it from you lmao

I guess reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Re-read my very first post and what it says about front and side views.

Yeah, a statement like work on a vector image for a month or two is not intended to be inflammatory.

I drew that Vector image which is made up of 1440 separate objects in about three hours.

It is easy to re-use vector items to convert to other views if you draw in layers and know what you are doing.

Take a look at this jpeg of the piano I made in trueSpace. You might not think that most of the piano is made up of Vector items and imported into tS using AI (Adobe Illustrator) import method, but it was. Only the boxes were made in trueSpace. I even made the texture in the Vector program.

Yeah, so I will continue to do what I do and how I do it.

interesting, seems like a long way to go about it but everyone does things differently, well im glad you have decided to continue the project and i look fordward to seeing it progress

apologies if you tulk offense to this, your reaction seemed a little too extreme to me but perhaps as it is so hard to read emotion in text you assumed i was trying to offend you

I agree with the eariler post..I don't want her a pres...ohhh...even though I am not a big fan of her or her side I would love to see the image to. I like to steal..err get ideas from people on how to do work. Oh James a good reference to draw her from you could get from the Bible in Genesis..where it talks about the serpent...
