Now that arm couldn't beat me up. I like the "muscles" though, I think they add a nice organic touch to the non-organic bit of him! |

I like the concept you're going for with that arm, but I think it needs to be "beefier". |

Sort of a rhetorical question, but why do mechs need nipples?
Seems like a USB port would be handier! |

1 for controlling body temperature, & the other to tune into Jazz FM, of course :p |

a fantastic looking patchwork cyborg :)
I'm sure the texturing will blow as away.
I'm interested in the head ^^
... maybe a strong masculine face with a cigar in the mouth and a cap :D ... so many possibilities. |

Stuning Steve - I like it! I too wondered if the meck arm needed to be a little heavier looking. The curvature of the pipes and rods and so on does a very nice job of being uncomfortably mechanical and biological at tghe same time - very nice work!
It's gratifying for me to see one of my suggestions carried out so well too!
You've definitely earned a well-deserved banana for this = |

Thanks for the comments guys.
Now that arm couldn't beat me up So you think your tough eh!!!;)
I like the concept you're going for with that arm, but I think it needs to be "beefier"I too wondered if the mech arm needed to be a little heavier looking Its true that the mech arm looks a little 'weedy' compared to the rest of the mech but this was in fact deliberate. I liked the unbalanced look with the rest of the body. I was thinking along the lines of the mech arm was being seen without its over casing. I still wouldn't want a clip round the ear from it.:D I'm not as hard as Methusela :D
I'm sure the texturing will blow as away. I hope so to. Although I do intend to keep the textures on this one to a minimum as I want the 'just out of the showroom' look for this project
It's gratifying for me to see one of my suggestions carried out so well too! The pleasure was all mine sir. :D
Thanks again

This is really a nice looking project... not sure of the complete direction here, I see the metal entering the torso and it just begs for me to show a reference picture I have on me that might be of some use here. This is what happens to a human when metal is entering it after 6-8 weeks... Blue veins, entry points is often red and near blistering, skin in the area needs to be peeling, parts of the body not recieving enough blood and oxygen get a wonderful blueing tint to them...
This is the gory effect though... not sure about the pristine just outta the factory look though, that one is too boring for me.

Truly cringe-worthy.
Ouchie, momma.
Altogether, an awesome texturing job.
Compliments to your surgeon for his modeling job too. |

When I say 'outta the showroom' I mean the mech section of the project. I figure that 'old nick' would have plenty on minions to Polish his body work for him :D But the organic sections will of course have some nice skin textures with all the imperfections that you mentioned in your post. (I'm rather looking forward to that bit) So there should be more than enough to keep the texture fans interested ;) |

Yea, reference photos like that are kinda hard to find on the net :D ya gotta have some connections hehehe. I hope it gives you some ideas, you are a far, far better texture artist than I am.
Lessons learned:
------------------
Don't do a face first fall off a ladder onto concrete floor, and if you do, make sure you have an excellent surgeon to put you back together. Distal Radial Fracture. |

That's me, sorry I didn't smile for the camera :D hehehe
picture taken 2 days before external fixator was removed, 7 hard weeks of physical therapy and she is doing pretty good, they tell me I am the fastest recovery they have seen in 20 plus years of doing hand therapy (I am such an over achiever lol)

Oh, I like the development ! And the bionic arm should really look great the way you intend to texture it !
And with the help of RichLevy's scary hand pic, the bot might becomy quite terrifying :D
Rich, your hand truly looks like it's been trough hell ! :(
Good to hear it's getting better ! :) |

sheeez Rich! That picture is one of those things that makes you say 'ouch'! As a guitarist I've always strived toprotect my hands as even a small cut or nick can affect your ability to play - so pics like yours make me feel a little squeamish :D
Dispite my care though I still ended up in therapy at the local hand clinic where I saw lots of sights like your hand. Ironically all that guitar playing over the years has damaged the trendons in both my arms although they look ok from the outside - nothing like that hand of yours.
@Madmouse - well mate I've got to 'hand' it to you - you sure know how to generate interesting threads! |

As I haven't posted anything in a while I thought you might like to see what I've been doing
It's far from finished yet but you can get the general idea. More horns to be added and pipes and skin and..... well come to think of it I aint got time to be telling you, I better get on with it :D
Comments and crits as always please guys.
P.S. I wonder why the face seems to be a different mesh from the back of the head???
Steve
P.P.S. I've got a whole lovely week off work next week and nothing to do but model  so things might progress a bit faster.
(as long as I can keep out of the other half's way;) ) |

Madmouse, the head looks very good! How did you do that?? it looks like you didn't use polyhedrons because some of the vertices I see are curving a little bit. Can you give us some your genious hints?? :D |

Can you give us some your genious hints?? :D Thanks Birdnest, it was all done with polygons and point editing (mostly in silo 1.42). The areas you see 'curving in' are just down to my bad modelling where I haven't tidied up the loose ends properly before sub-dividing.

Well that's about it for the head.
Hope you like the design of the neck. I wanted something unusual.
Comments and crits please

I wasn't crazy about your original head but after seeing it attached with the lit up eyes I changed my mind. My favorite part is how you handled the plumbing! Really awesome how you intertwined them. |
