Well that's it for the shader parts. Anything you see that is still grey is destined to have a texture map.
It actually turned out to be more than I expected so that should keep the texture fans happy.
Things to do.....
1).... Settle on a final pose.
2).... Add the tail (it will be snaking round his feet but until I finalise the pose It'll have to wait)
3).... Lighting adjustments.
4).... Some sort of background/base.
5).... Add whatever I finally decide on to his right hand. (I'm leaning towards the severed head at the moment, Sorry W!Z ;) )
6).... Textures of course!!!
I thought you might like to see a wireframe to and I've added one with just the points simply because I liked the look of it.
Take a good look people as this will be the first & last post with him fully assembled until he's finished.
Polycount stands at 278161 and rising, and me old puter is starting to chug a bit so fingers crossed.
Any comments and crits????

Steve
Fair enough mate! And after all, one mans severed head is another mans teddy bear..... or something:confused:  !
One comment - I'm not 100% sure about those shiny black feet. They remind me of patent leather shoes. My first thought was 'he just needs a top hat and he'll be ready to do a tap-dance routine' - now, this is just a wild guess but I'm picking that's NOT the look you were going for!! ;)
Of course the wide open mouth could mean he's singing a song too!
Two factors should be taken into account when reading this criticism - 1), no one else seems to have seen this side of your devil-mech and 2) I'm the guy who suggested he needed a teddy bear!
Context is everything of course - the setting and your suggested fiery HDRI lighting will no doubt remove any 'cabaret' feel (which probably resides purely in my warped and twisted mind - I have been neglecting to take my meds recently!!) |

My gosh W!zard your giving Madmouse more to texture, a top hat and cane!!!:D
I like the black hoofs and the fact their spotless. Not many entities can kick a DevilMech's rearend...or try.
Holy water on the joints perhaps. |

There you go, hand content problem solved, I'm sure you could knock up a decent microphone in no time. :)
Little karaoke machine, Saturday Night Fever floor panels and you're all set.
perhaps not. |

I think its to late to say, The head is to big??
Yep about 2 weeks and several WIP's ago.;) :D
Joking aside I do know what you mean but I don't think your entirely right. I went to a lot of trouble to get the head in scale with the body but what I think is happening is maybe all the pipes and horns give the impression of the head being larger than it actually is. Either way its to late to do anything without lots of remodelling and I don't think its bad enough to really need the extra work.
Thanks anyway though, I'm always open constructive crits.

Oh yeah you all think your so clever but ha ha ha what you don't know is I've been planning the very same thing all along ;) .

LOL! Touche Mr Mouse - hell that's so good I have to say three-che!
I should have known better than to mess with da mouse ;)
Of course it doesn't take a degree in psychology to see that your satan mech is so damn scarey that we're just trying to defuse a tense situation with humour - you know how people always laugh at horror movies!!

Hi Lars, good to see your back with us, I was wondering where you'd been hiding.
Only been home for weekends, and then playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R to test my new rig...even though I should've been trueSpacing...:o
Modelling maybe. Textures Oooohh no no no no. Long way to go yet.
I have full confidence in the texture-master! :)
Long way for you is an extremely short time for me ;) |

Well I've finally pulled myself up out of the pit that I live in while I do textures, to show you a WIP.:)
This was a lot of work to do, but I'm very pleased with the results. 90% of the textures are hand drawn from scratch (hence the amount of work Phew!!)
Hope you like it and find time to post an encouraging comment or two ;)
Oh well back down the pit I go....I just wish they'd give me a candle, and some food would be nice from time to time (chicken heads get old very quickly)
Comments and crits please guys
Steve.
P.S. As promised these textures are dedicated to RickLevy and his poor broken hand. Get well soon Rich :) |

oooooooh. That's rather lovely!
Nipples look a little like poppers/press studs (for attachments?) but it's such a minor thing so, I repeat, ooooooh, nice. |

Wow Steve this is some really nice work. (not unexpected).
A couple things catch my eye if you want feedback. Does a Satan have a metal naval? He has a hairy belly but not a hairy arm. I like the paint job but the chrome reminds me of the backend of a 56 Nomad. ) Nothing wrong with that picture) but that's the impression. Some day you definitely need to give us a tutorial on texturing!!! |
