Hello!
I announced this a while ago, but studica.com is hosting a contest for animators using TS.
I've decided to work on my own entry, and have already created the first part.
Here's the link to the contest:
http://www.studica.com/skills/competition.cfm?competitionid=30
and here's what I've completed so far:

Tell me what you think!:D |

Looks pretty good so far..I assume this is just an intro to your animation and will be a lot smaller (file size) when you are done? |

Good job on the animation and good luck on your entry. :)
I like to keep introductions short and dramatic. I remember some of those old movie introductions would bother me because they took to much time. It is better to have a dramatic splash that is short fading into your opening screen than to make a long dramatic entry.
If you look at the current trends, movie entries have even shown scenes from the movie that are (a) either the same in the actual movie (2) different viewpoints from what is in the movie (3) Cartoon related or unrelated to the movie (4) Minimal pre-movie display with a very dramatic entrance into the movie (explosions, wild point of view "falling from the sky", fire, cold and many other ideas.
My advise is to be original but artful. People like innovation more than anything else. |

Have you tried having the Logo come out of the glare instead of into it? |

Hey this looks like fun! I suppose I've been looking for an excuse to try out Motion Studio. I might give this a go, if you don't mind! I thought your intro was pretty much the way Jamesmc described it. Innovative and short. I liked it! |

Thanks for all the comments!
I don't have anything to show just yet, but I've decided use the song "Get Ready for This" as the soundtrack. I am also going to have a little more in the intro, so I can also give myself credit, but I'll keep it as short as I can.
Also...Methusela, I'll be looking forward to what you come up with...just keep in mind that the contest is for "students only." I hope that doesn't get in the way. |

Oh!
I just remembered to ask, does anyone here know how to model the seams of a baseball? |

I'm a student. ^^
My tuition loans sure aren't just there for the heck of it. XD
And for the seams, I'd use a bump map. |

Are you looking for a bump map or actual geometry? |

I'll go with a bump map if I absolutely have to, but I would prefer the geometry. |
