Hello everyone! I certainly don't have time to be doing this, as I've already committed to doing several other arts (Roman's avatar, don't worry, I haven't forgotten!), but I couldn't resist. Now, I'm not sure how many people here have seen the show The Office (there have to be at least a few of you, 'cos there are different versions for a lot of countries, most notably the US version and the British, original version.), but it's the only TV show I've ever followed religiously (that'd be the US version.). So I've resolved to try to recreate the office space that is used in the show. This involved downloading the entire series and going through and looking at minor details everywhere. I've done a fair amount since rendering this picture, but this is a rough starting point. (Also, I know the pillar's too big, I've since fixed it. ^^)

The first one's a screen grab of early progress, the second one's a widescreen(in the US The Office is presented in widescreen :D) render of the majority of the floorplan. I'll never get this 100% accurate, but if anyone has any tips or even better, an actual floor plan of The Office, that'd be incredibly helpful!

IMAGE TOO BIG, YO.

Suggestions, critiques, iSatans anyone?

(Also I hereby decree that John may explain his many-a-month absence in the space below, if he so desires!)

Also, next up is modeling Pam's (Dawn in the British incarnation) reception desk!

As a side note, if everyone has seen Prodigy's image thread in the Image Gallery section, this is the project I was referring to when I asked about wide angle lenses. As you can plainly see, I wasn't brave enough to try using one. XD

Also, I've gotta do something about that blue colour bleeding going on up in the ceiling area.

lol. That will do it to ya. Still in one piece I hope. Mine are mothballed for the winter but the weather is getting nicer out so it's about time to start up again :)

Office above is looking very nice Methusela. Sure beats the heck out of the cube farm I reside in at work! I think the carpet was brand new at the start of the '80s. You'rs looks much more comfortable. :)

Wow! When I was a kid I dreamed of having one of those things! When I lived in Germany (age 4-6) there was a group of RC plane enthusiasts that would often congregate on a wide field near the base we lived on. They had some incredibly neat looking planes as well, I even saw a few triplanes! But I would stand there and watch them fly all over the place. I never got the guts to talk to them, for I hear the language barrier can be potent at times, and I knew precious little German. ^^

Is flying one everything I hope it is? Good to have you back!

More on The Office probably tomorrow (depends if I opt for a more "play football (soccer)" approach to my day. :D)!

Also, just so everyone knows, this is basically my first real attempt at an indoor scene. It's alot harder than I thought! XD

Methusela, I don't know the US version, but I also watched the orginal UK version with a near to religious zeal :o I can imagine your model slowly getting populated by these iconic figures and items, that make such an office, although looking nice, modern and neutral, hell on earth. The Office symbolises why I quit my job 10 years ago and created my own working environment;) I'm impatient to see your next moves. It's quite a project by the way, I wish you luck and masses of time and energy.

Great looking models! Are those still with the ol'6.6?

I think one of my favourite projects of yours was your pilot! I love all the planes, don't get me wrong, but the pilot was even more exquisite than usual!

Nah, he probably just has an advance copy of TrueSpace 8. I hear they only give that out to modeling gods. Finish iSatan and you might just get "that e-mail" soon. Marcel, Lars, and several others know what I'm talking about, but they're bound by NDA's. I'm only allowed to say because I'm omniscient.

Well, whatever the software, they look good.

As for my own WIP, I just started working for Delta, so my hours have been pretty hectic (my first full time job! :O) and I'm waiting 'til I get my real schedule (as opposed to my training one) to continue on this. May be a few updates before then, it's just that things would be so much easier if I had a floor plan. In lieu of nbc.com/theoffice having one, looks like I'm going to have to guess and make one myself.

Could it be that the allure of all new animations tools in 7.5 are what caused you to resurface in these parts?

I can honestly say that I've checked here every day to see if there are any updates on 7.5. I have so many projects on hold for when I get my hands on that software.

Pff, trueSpace8? That was long ago, I'm running trueSpace9.4 which finally have a button called "Create amazing art", but since I'm under NDA I can't post any images ;) :D

BTW

I only see this:

Images edited out by Admin: images exceed 800x600.

Makes me curious about what your office images look like!

John's planes where very impressive (good work! :D), but I got confused when I first checked the thread called Office and found planes..

...didn't remember that from the series ;)

Ahoo! I didn't notice that! XD

Here's a smaller image, and below it is a link to a higher res one. And below that is a preview rendered in 7.11.

Sorry 'bout that. XD

9.4, yes, I see it now. That's the version where they put in the "automatically generate code for game of the year" feature. Good stuff. If only everyone else knew what they were missing!

Are you going to create the characters too ?

I forgot to mention that function ! A press of a button and get HalfLife2Episode2 without having to wait for Valve to be finished ;) :D

I've never seen this TV show but would love to see this in some kind of animation with characters as well

You know, once I get the office itself done, I think I might have a crack at animating a few of the characters! They'll be caricatured, obviously, as is my style, but I think that's too good of an idea to pass up. Thanks for the suggestions!

Did anyone else have the pleasure of seeing tonight's season finale?

Was that incredible or what? Probably the funniest and most heartwarming thing I've ever seen on TV.
