Can someone please help me find newer drivers for this card.

The newest drivers I could find were from 2005. The card was made in 2003..

It seems like as soon as AMD took over ATI they stoped supporting my card..

I would think for $800.00 they would update drivers for more than two years..

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Gee... I never thought of looking on the internet wow..

So anyway... I thought perhaps someone might have some proprietary drivers with better more current functionality..

If they could be found on the internet I would have found them long ago.

Still hopeful...

Many Thanks and Cheers:jumpy:

Sarcasm...wonderful invention. Brits do it so well too...

A few years ago a Nvidia 8800GT cost the best part of £500 when released. Shops are falling over themselves to get rid of them now and move on the new 9 series which are little more than the same card rebadged.

Progress means discontinuing products and making new ones...support for them must also stop as dev's write drivers for the new hardware.

Of course, I realise you know this...but then you must expect that a 5 year old card, no matter what it cost, cannot be supported indefinitely.

Still, have you tried the forums and groups? I find Bjorn3D.com a great source for Nvidia related stuff. Guru3d.com is another good one as is computing.net

Maybe someone has hacked other drivers to run on there but I am an Nvidia man so no sure about Ati.

Can I ask why you need updated drivers? Is there some problem with the existing ones? I had nothing but trouble with the lastest Cat's on a Radeon 9800Pro...I had to go back 4 generations (the 4.8's) to solve my problems.

Paid $300 for my 8800 about 18 months ago. Can pick it up for $80 now :) Progress is a great thing! It's a GS so not the best 8800 on the block (they were $500 then, and are about $120 or so now), but it performs brilliantly, especially for $80 or so!

Normally I pay around about £200 for a graphics card when I upgrade and my previous card was that including delivery, maybe 2 1/2 years ago. However, the new one cost 170 euro including shipping for a card that is so much more powerful and more memory.

The card I had you can get for like £20 off ebay these days...a 7900gt btw. it sucked for vista.

Odd, my 7600 did just fine for Vista and tS - not a patch on what the 8800 can do, but certainly functional in the workspace and Modeler. Even my 6600 could get by in tS.

I'd still recommend the 7600 and above in the 7 series to those who are particularly budget conscious. But of course always best to go for as much as you can afford, so the 8 (or the 9) series would be better, and at prices now around or below $100, that makes those pretty affordable.

The particular card I had was a specially overclocked superdooper version of the 7900gt (an XFX Extreme) which under XP was fantastic. In vista it was fine once the drivers settled 1 year after vista came out but you couldn't change resolutions - NVidia were actually blaming the timings of specific monitors and 6 months after reporting it and it still not working, I changed to ATI.

I like games and nearly every game changes the resolution at some point, NWN2 for example, changes down to 640x480 to play a video intro before switching back. Basically, it looked like someone was messing with horizontal hold on an old telly.

Also, I can now use sleep mode...woo hoo.
