Hello all
It says WIP so I'm a WIPpin' up somtin.
This is one of my favorite recent pieces that I've done, and now that I can see it in motion, I'm excited all over again. There won't be too much motion, but I figured I can practice a variety of things at once with this project. This will be my 1st animation (actually have done a very short one already just to get my feet wet).
(* NOTE: I recently read a Thread abt nudity and it's place in the forums. IMHO, we are all artists here; that's what art programs are for. Our eyes see deeper and farther than others, our minds search wider and appreciate more fully than those that don't dream, whether our ability to create visually what we 'see' is on a 'pro' level or not.
I can go on for hours on this topic... the short of it is... as an artist, everything is art (when tastefully done, when done with purpose), and everything has it's beauty, from the texture of mold, to the sensuousness of a body. My eye creates a realistic style, my mind uses symbolism to get to the core, or invoke... a feeling. This painting has nothing really to do with nudity. It's abt the play of light; the hard, and the soft; the beauty in the color, and the white.
If you folks (or whoever is the one who passes judgement in these forums), feels this piece of art is too risque, then I will gladly remove it and try again. It's a beautiful opportunity for me to make it come to life and I hope you all can help with the process.
I don't want to talk abt 'nudity'... please offer constructive critisism, or helpful hints on how to get it done, if you can find the time.
So, here we go... |

Hm, not sure if this is your question...but when you post a message you
have a paperclip icon to click on, you can then browse for a file, then upload it to this site.
After that you use the paperclip icon folddown button to place the image somewhere in the message.
(something I failed to do in my first posts ;) )
Note that the upload window also shows the maximum filesizes your allowed to upload.
Another way is if you have it on a site, then you can link to it with the "globe and chain" icon.
And, hey, I'm Swedish and can't be offended by nudity so go right ahead ;)
(You did warn for it in the thread title, so I don't think anyone will complain) |

Alrighty. THANK YOU all for your kindness. Yes, sadly I need specific directions in computer procedure. In time, I'll smile too and be able to give someone else what seems such 'easy' directions (for some strange reason, I didn't bother to investigate the paperclip icon; Duhh)
Back to business.
The swans will have some minor movement in the pool (to create an 'alive' feeling). The lady will sllowly come down the aisle, down the steps and end up where the painting shows. Imagine the painting as the final 'shot'.
What's awesome abt this medium is it's so much easier to place the lights and let the puter create the effect. I don't need to show her 'parts'. It's much more pleasurable to have the mind work than bare all. All my art is abt creating a, a feel, a something internal.
So, the 1st pic is the unfinished 'terrain' I have so far using solely tS. Having reviewed, I have made the columns larger, and will add a pot and a tapestry against some of the wall. In the original art I had strewn rose petals on the ground for contrast (will see if it works in the final render).
I've been trying to use an animated scene to include all the great toys (uh, tools:) ) that exist in tS (Roman, if ya ever read this, ^5. Good work bud; I'm like a kid again), covering all of tS's creative toolchest.
Now, how the heck to do the swans, much less the lady. For my modelling, I prefer using Nurbs in point edit mode cuz after every adjustment the smoothness remains, but is that the best/quickest way for organice models (the limitation being that when I want to do some other specific effect/tool, I have to turn it into a polygon)?
I've read others say abt using subdivision mode(?), that's still an untouched area for me.
If you find the time, ANY comment or direction will be truly appreciated :jumpy: |

I would say that Nurbs is way to complicated for creating Organics. (but it is possible, and some produce impressive work with it.)
Try Subdivision instead, it's polygonbased, easy to edit and you can get it as smooth as you like by subdividing abit more. |

Firstly welcome to the forums.
I like the classical look you have going on here - and very nice to see a female figure with a realistic anatomy too but that's a whole other conversation;) .
Comments; As a conceptual idea I really like what you have started here Dragneye. I see swans every day on the river across the road from my place and they are beautiful creatures (although swans in New Zealand are black rather than white). Sadly I don't see quite so many beautiful naked women across the road from my place but that's probably just as well or they might distract me from trueSpacing :D
I'm not sure how I would go about modelling a swan but at least the woman can be modelled with relative ease by using such programs as Poser or Makehuman (the latter is free and available for download here (http://www.dedalo-3d.com/index.php)). Makehuman will allow you to create your own relatively unigue female (or male) figure proportioned to your liking and posed with relative ease. You can them import the resultant geometry into trueSpace (using the LUUV plugin) for textureing and so forth. There's obviously a bit of a learning curve involved with this if you've not done it before but there is plenty of help available if you get stuck. Ususally working it out for yourself is one of the best ways to learn this stuff of course but there's plenty of folk here who will happily give you input if you need it.
The swan as I said will be a bigger challenge to get looking right. NURBS can be very useful for modeling all sorts of things but if I was attempting to model a swan I think that polygon modelling with SDS would be easier. I would look for good quality reference images (Google is your friend!) to assist in getting the proportions right.
Good luck with this, I'm interested to see how you do with it. |

Thanx SHIKE - will look into SDS and see what I can do with it.
WIZARD writes: Firstly welcome to the forums. - (Drew bows with respect). A pleasure to be here.
WIZARD writes: "Sadly I don't see quite so many beautiful naked women across the road from my place but that's probably just as well or they might distract me from trueSpacing" - No no no! They would be inspiration WIZARD for use in tS, not distraction :D.
Funny you mention abt swans. I remember that the original swan I was going to use WAS the black type. Just thought it easier to convincingly paint white instead.
WIZARD writes: "As a conceptual idea I really like what you have started here" - Thank you for the support. I picked this pic to animate cuz of the original sensuous feel i felt when i sketched it (play of light on color and lack of [white], soft and hard surfaces next to each other, the sensuousness of marble, and yes, 'forms'. The trigger was the recent viewing of the movie '300'.
Also, thanx for pointing me towards Makehuman (budget restraints are a real issue for me right now). Will check it out
Now back to the dungeon to see what I can cook up. |
