Had a dream about this the other night, probably a case of subconciously dreading the alarm going off, thinking about ways to show off Vray GI and the isometric view plus a few beers and a dodgy curry...:D
Anyway I 'dreamt' of a digital clock made up of dark cubes rather than segments-with cube LED's inside, early days yet but the second image is a bit of an experiment with colour bleeding from the LED while the first is an initial design for the clock.
Early days indeed...;) |

Interesting idea... I could see that as something that would be offered by shops that cater to "different" styles for useful items. |

What time is it when your clock strikes thirteen?
Time to get a new clock!
Old joke, but it was the first thing I thought of.
Nice isometric view.

I'd have one of those in my room in a heartbeat!
Since we're on the subject of innovation, how about if the alarm sound is thunderous applause and people chanting your name! That'd give you the boost you need to start your day! Or else if it played that Karate Kid montage song: You're the best! Around! etc.
Looks really cool though. |

Cheers mate, really quick mock up there and I am yet to perfect the LED effect but I hope that a few more days and lots more detail will see this Vray render look indistinguishable from a magazine shot...;) We can but hope...:D |

It looks a little funny to me with the 1 placed on the left edge of the leading block, it leaves such a large gap, you might try one of the middle two columns. |

Definitely a neat idea... I immediately wonder if it would be feasible? I don't know enough about LEDs myself to know. Of course, half (or more) of the fun of 3d is creating the impossible. |

Damn, I got bored waiting for Vray to render this so I tried a LW with HDRI...too shiny. Will work it some more later...busy weekend. |

Well I really likes that image, maybe a more brownish orange background, a bit to dark as is but the cubes cool.
Keep it up.
