@stickman: the ears are about right, maybe it's because the head is tilted a bit.

@kenya: Maybe it's a female who likes females....it's a stereotype, but some look this way.

@3D frog: Nice work, it's very important to avoid the sds as much as possible while modeling, If it looks good without it...blah blah blah....

You can take the two bands to the outside of the forehead into the eye, this will give you a bit more eye geo. and kill that N-Gon....Aside from that you are definately getting better!

The ears were still a little high. I lowered them. It wasn't just the angle.

I think when she's textured she'll look a little older. Those face proportions are from the reference photo of an adult female. I'm not sure making it longer would make her look older. But her head is pretty round.

I totally missed that n-gon.

I think I'm gonna end the modeling here and move on to texturing now. I could spend forever tweaking this model and adding detail but I think you have to just set a finishing point sometime. I'm gonna use this figure to illustrate a slip and fall in a restaurant. It doesn't have to be very highly detailed. I can do the rest of the detail with maps. I like to keep models fairly low poly anyway.

Thanks Everyone. I'll post agian tomorrow when I get started texturing.

Very nice job, um, but are you going to put some hair on her head? :D

Yes she will have hair. I am experimenting with truespace hair but not having much luck yet. If I can't get it to do what i want i will model some hair.

All day experimenting with hair. She is in desperate need of texture now.

Not bad for a first try. I just hope she didn't pay her hairdresser any money though, unless she was aiming for the cave-woman hairstyle. I can only imagine how hard it would be to cut your hair with shards of rocks or bones. :D

The hair is very dense and only looks like doll hair near the roots. Still, not bad at all, it looks kind of believable.

She probably cannot afford the hairdresser. Those guys are expensive! She used a Flobie (tm) instead.

lol. Yeah she looks like a bad flobie job for sure. I scrapped that hairdo and gave her a perm now. I think it looks better. What do you folks think?

Anyone know why the hair thickness settings have no effect? I tried setting them high and low and the render is always the same thickness.

This is just an "off the top of my head" and admittedly inexperienced answer, but did you place new hair after changing the setting? I would expect the thickness setting to only apply before the hair is actually created.

i suggest a other modeling method (see the LInk) but your work looks okay so far.

That is a oldie, but a goodie.(the Joan tut).

I suggest using alpha maps for the hair, current hair is only good for grass IMO.

I did that joan tutorial in silo not too long ago. Maybe I should try it again in truespace.

Someone at subdivision modeling.com said the same thing about using tga hair. I guess I should try it and see if it looks better.

I started texturing. I'm gonna do some more detail and build teeth the move to rigging. I kinda like the hair in the overall context. I'm gonna keep it for now.

Did some more texturing and added simple white bands for teeth.

Now for rigging.

It's looking really good! I looked at the difference between your first and last post, and I think it's amazing! That's one thing I can't model: people (there are a bunch of other things too, but that's the main thing), so kudos to you!

Thanks truespaced. It's not perfect but I really learned a lot doing this. I got a lot of great feedback that really helped. I look at how I started that head and wonder what I was thinking. It's better but I know I have room for improvement. This model will be fine for my slip and fall animation. I think it would look better if I was good at texturing but I just do very simple texture painting in blacksmith3d. I am more interested in modeling and animation than texturing so this is fine for my purposes.

looking good, the texturing helps a lot.
about the joan tut. it is still decent, but is starting to sge a bit, as we are now able to do more detailed characters etc. Still a good starting point.
