Here's a series of motion tests I've been doing, trying to get a hang of TS's new animation capabilities. Thought I'd put them all together since each one is rather short by itself. The last piece is the most interesting probably, I managed to figure out how to combine keyframe animation and physics and it worked right!

Below is a small file version of it in .wmv format and HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH3mio6uMOY) is a link to a higher resolution version hosted on YOUTUBE.

Pretty cool. The animation is a little slow and stiff, which works for the zombie, but not so much for the others. They are great tests though. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thx guys!

As to the speed, that's what I'm trying to get down. I have yet to really find what works best to simulate a fluid walking motion. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

You have a dancing banana in your ear!

Lol, sorry, I would help, but I don't understand animation at all in TS 7.5! I can't even get a box to move from one place to another! Sorry!

I always found it best to have lots of footage to use as reference. Motion (especially walking) is difficult to get correct. Since everyone does it, they know what it should look like!

I usually start with the timing from point A to B. And then slowly widdle away at the motions, starting with the bigger ones and working down to the minute.

Analyze existing footage of people walking. Stopping, starting, turning. And really look at the changes their body makes. See what starts moving first. What stops moving last. When does the person begin leaning in the direction they want to move etc .... even eye and head movement.

If you want to learn character animation but dont have 14,000 dollars for animation mentor, you can do the keith lango video training series.

http://www.klangoanimation.com/store/storeHome.html

They are reasonably priced. He uses maya but what he teaches you can do in any application. He teaches animation, not software. You can just buy the back issues he sells or you can subscribe and get the new ones monthly for cheaper plus a discount on the older ones. Keith Lango is a seasoned pro. Worth checking out.

Nice work Chris. I was just looking at June animation Gallery and was sad to see no character animations submitted:( Perhaps next month!

Thx all, especially you Roman! Always nice when the head-cheese notices you!

No submissions from me yet, I tend to hold myself to a level of quality for that sort of thing that I rarely achieve:rolleyes:

I am getting places though, and hope to have something I'm proud enough of to submit to the community!
