Hello,

I've never posted here before, but I was wondering if someone could help me. I recently upgraded from TrueSpace 6.6 to TrueSpace 7.1, and when I attempt to open my old .scn files, there are no objects in the scene -- just cameras and lights.

Has anyone else encountered this before? I couldn't find anything in the documentation or forums.

Thanks!

-Brian

Couple of things come to mind:

1) If there are hierarchies in the tS6.6 scene, they could take a long time to load and show up in tS7. tS7 no longer uses hierarchies in the same way, and old style hierarchies can slow things down a lot. You could try MeshCollapse.tsx in tS6.6 to remove any hierarchies and see if that helps

2) Ensure the Bridge is set to On or Auto. If it is off, then objects won't show up in the Player

Other than those first two ideas, you could also try saving a basic scene from tS6.6 (just a cube) and ensure that works, verify if there are particular scenes or kind of scenes causing you trouble, and confirm if the objects are showing up in Modeler, Player, LE, Scene Editor, etc (as that could identify bridge related issues). Let everyone here know the extra info and it will help track down what is happening and get some ideas for fixes :)

HTH!

If you are loading a huge scene, I highly recommend "NOT" to enable the bridge, because it will bring the system down to it's knees (it's like loading the scene twice + translating from modeler 2 player). You have to load .scn files from modeler anyway. If you want to view it in player later, you just enable the bridge then and switch.

Thanks for your suggestions! I'll try it out tonight and let you know how it works.

I've had similar problems, and it's definitely down to hierarchy. If you have more thatn one level of grouping, you get invisible objects. Just ungroup as much as possible. The other thing you may notice is that the X and Y directions have been switched in 7.1, which is a pain.

It looks like flattening the object hierarchies fixed it. Thanks everybody!
