I have the following problem here which keeps some of us users from the german trueSpace forum busy.
Graysho has created a video tutorial for mapping in TS 6.6
Now some of us german ts 7 users wanted to repeat its steps, and stumbled over a massive problem. trueSpace 7 refuses to map a single face. It maps the whole mesh instead the selected face only. Which leads to a totally wrong mapped mesh.
Is there a secret feature available to map an object?
see Grayshos TS6.6 Videotutorial here (http://www.spacerat.at/tutorials/ts_uvmapping/ts_uvmapping.html) and try it in 7.X |

I can confirm that. I never tried mapping in 7, but there seems to be a problem. When I select faces in point edit, map them and go to uv-editor, they are still connected to the rest of the mesh, and the mapping itself is messed up. Btw, the screenshot shows another bug that just recently appeared. When in point edit mode, all icons disappear until I hover over them with the mouse cursor. I know, this might not be fixed since it's the "old code", but pretty annoying nonetheless.

I can also confirm this bug. Another excellent example how useless TS7 is at the moment. trueSpace was and is the buggiest full version ever.
And different from lots of other bugs, here it is no workaround* available. This feature is too essential for mapping.
*Sidenote: i am always in trouble to explain some steps in TS, because most of the explanations contains a " as a workaround ... "
Dear Caligari,
You should definitely rethink your marketing strategy when it comes to bugs. It cannot be that you own a software and cannot use it for several months up to years because the bugs makes it impossible to use the features. Even Microsoft has a monthly patchday now ... |

This seems like a serious bug...shouldn't it be in the bug section? I think the developers check this area first.
Maybe the reason why there will be a new UV mapping editor on player side in 7.5 is that they already know UV mapper on model side has become broken since upgrading from tS6.6? Its OK for those of us older users with tS6.6 but anybody jumping in with tS7.x will have no workaround.
Of course, many use 3rd party UV mapping programs so might not have noticed the bug....this is true for me. |

I thought it was me!
I never used UV in previous versions and only decided to try it after seeing the free preview tutorial. Looks easy. Doh. |

Thanks !
It's basically the same method I'm using.
The difference is that I first make all UV-projections, then enter the
editor and clean it up by using the tiny black arrows bottom right to change page (to see the different projections, and scale and move them)
That's the way I used to do it in UVcow.
However, the method to instantly edit the right page shown in GraySho's tutorial was really nice, wasn't even aware you could do that...
to bad it doesn't work any more (yup, I was also able to reproduce the problem.) |

That sounds like a partially workaround. Thank you for that :)
Nevertheless, GraySho's method is the way i use natively in TS 6.6. You may also need to resetup an UV space at complicated meshes. Happens to me from time to time. Which doesn't work then in TS7. Makes the UV Editor in TS 7 really useless.
Too bad that the old 6.6 part called modeler will not be fixed in any way anymore. And when i think about the fact that Modeler and Bridge will still be with us for a long time ... :( |
