All of a sudden Windows Defender picked this up. What should be done about this? What is in these files and registry keys that are causing this?

Review the alert details to see why the software was detected. If you do not like how the software operates or if you do not recognize and trust the publisher, consider blocking or removing the software.

I got that too this morning. I dont think its a real problem though. Its just the Uninstall program for TS7 that is listed. You can still uninstall TS7 through the add/remove programs section of your control panel. I just let Defender delete them and their reg entries. They are just taking up space.

Why Defender considers them low level "Possible" viri, is another matter.

What kind of software is Defender?

My Norton2005 firewall/virusscanner doesn't complain,

but I still remember an incident with a freeware antispyware software...

...it wanted to remove a sound file from one of my games just because

it was named "gator.wav" :D

If defender just looks at part of a name, and a threat contains part of the name trueSpace, it might give a false alarm.

Hm, Norton2005 isn't foolproof though, sometimes it thinks that my router

is attacking my computer (even if it's disconnected from internet) :rolleyes:

Best antispyware and antivirus method there is is manual removal. Google 'Hijack this' and download the program, open it and run a scan. Save the log as a .txt format and post to the forums at www.help2go.com. Pros will assess your log of running processes and tell you which to remove, which you can do with Hijack this.

(from the Windows Defender help files):

Add or remove items from the Windows Defender allowed list

To complete these steps, you must be logged on as Administrator or be a member of the Administrators group.
If you trust software that Windows Defender has detected, you can stop Windows Defender from alerting you to risks that the software might pose to your privacy or your computer. The next time Windows Defender alerts you about the software, on the Action menu, select Always Allow. If you want to monitor the software again later, you need to remove it from the Windows Defender allowed list.
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/mk:@msitstore:c:%5Cprogra%7E1%5Cwindow%7E4%5Cwgade f.chm::/note.gif Note

If Windows Defender alerts you about software and, on the Action menu in the alert dialog box, you select Ignore, you allow the software to run on your computer. If the software acts suspiciously at a later time, Windows Defender will alert you about the software again or automatically apply actions that you have set for each type of alert.
