Spacekdet, are you saying those settings work for you now? I set my st 7.11 to those settings and get the same message "connection refused due to differant Network Interface Version"

It seems that the current interface built in to 7.11 does not support the new truePlaces connection. I couldn't connect through ts7.11 either. I did however download and install truePlay 1.2 and connected just fine by going through the links from the truePlace section of the Caligari website.

I imagine (hope) they will integrate a new (free) update that lets you connect to the new truePlaces from within trueSpace.

We shall see...

Sorry, my mistake for not reading your original question clearly.
Gave you the solution for the old bug, not the new one.

Some people swapped trueSpace over so that it would connect to the truePlay server. We have two servers, one for each program - tsportal and tpportal.

tpportal is now updated to include things like voice, first person navigation, and more for the new truePlace environments on the tpportal. These features are in truePlay, but NOT in tS7.11 (they are naturally part of developments for tS7.5).

So, if you changed your trueSpace to come into the weekly chats, for instance, you'll now find it can't connect as it doesn't have those features.

You'll need to set it to access the tsportal instead.

It is not possible for anyone to access the tpportal server using trueSpace, since then people would begin editing the scenes, which is not what we want on that server. That is intended to be a "permanent" place where things don't change, making it a static meeting place (well, it will change, but only Caligari developers will have access to do that using trueSpace).

The same method listed below can be used, only set it to tsportal and not tpportal.

You won't find the new environments on there when tS connects up :)

Stan is right, I tried both ways and 7.11 is kaputt. "s" or "p" no longer connects.
Possibly a new version of the network environment for both?
The other concern is how are the settings for truePlay effecting TS 7.11 are they sharing resources, dll, or configs?

You guys are good testers. No way to use ts7.11 on a server at moment.

We have meeting later today and I will ask about this. I believe we should have a server set up so folks with ts7.11 (or what ever current version is in future) to access and collaborate.

Hopefully I can post again later on today with some news folks.

Interesting, the tS server shouldn't have been changed as far as I know, the plan was solely to update the tpportal for truePlace.

As Norm says, this will be discussed today and a resolution posted :) Meantime, our apologies for the inconvenience.

Nothing yet. The server that tS7.11 went to is updated too, and is being used for testing. We are looking into options, eg getting a new server set up with the "old" version on it that tS7.11 can access.

More news as it develops.

Thanks!

Tom
