Hi all,

Was looking at the control of a material based light via scripts using the link editor but can't seem to find it anywhere.

As I understand it, material lights are a lightworks only kind of thing. I expected to find the setting under the following hiearchy (painted cube in this case):

Cube/Material List, 1/Material Chunk, 1/LW Material, 1/something under here..

Setting wasn't there. Best I can figure the material light information must be passed some other way, probably to make it available globally for the scene instead of with each raytrace intersection.

For the life of me I can't figure out where to look though.

P.K.

It's one of the things that has no equivalent on the Player side and so is not translated through the Bridge. There is therefore no entry for it in the LE.

Ah, ok. That makes more sense. With GI capabilities it's probably less of an issue these days anyway as a fully ambient light can illuminate nearby materials. A bit costly render wise but do-able.

I guess that means that objects using material lights should be saved out individually as it's unlikely to be preserved if stored in the object library (I'm assuming the object library is player based). Only speculating for the moment... will have to try it out to be sure. Also will have to see what editing the model on the player side does to the material light textures on the model side as the model is transferred back across the bridge.
