How long can it take to do a boolean subtract? I was trying to do a boolean subtract on a tire. So I had a tire and a ring around it to subtract. After an hour I still had an hour glass and no action. I had to exit trueSpace to end the operation.

You have to pre-think boolean operations. It may be not enough geometry defining the area being boolean sub'd. Try "triangulate first" as another option to try. It all boils down to the math. If you leave decisions up to ts to compute, it may compute too long as you describe. Beef up the density of mesh in area to be booleaned. Try again and see if it is better.

You can also try boolean on a cylinder or two to make a crude tire and model from that point. Many different approaches to boolean operation in ts. You get a feel for how to utilize some of them as your experience and knowledge of trueSpace grows.

Rule #1: Save The Scene First.
Increase density of mesh- subdivide the face/s you are trying to drill into.
Subdivide the drill.
Right-Click the Boolean icon and experiment with the settings.
Failure can sometimes be corrected by moving the drill object a little- exactly overlapping mesh lines can often cause trouble.
Did I mention saving the scene first?

Thanks all; I will try them and see what I can learn. Have a great day. I'll get back to you.
