I just recently had to replace my HDD and reinstall WinXP. Everything seems to be OK, but there are a few things left that need to be straightened out.

At the forefront of these things, I seem to be having issues with the "Direct 3D" display mode in TS6.6. It seems that a few things that would normally be displayed as slightly transparent now have a slightly "checkered" look to them. Take a look at the below image and see for yourself. I've outlined the problem in orange.

You can control the level of transparency tS uses. This looks like the lowest level, which is fast but as you can see has lower quality. If you just reinstalled, you most likely have gone back to a default that you once had changed.

Right Click on the DirectX icon to open up the properties dialogue. Lots of options there for you to choose from :) One is Transparency, which can be Level 1, 2 or 3. Each level is better looking, but demands more of your GPU. Today's graphics cards should have no problem with Level 3. This was for displays from some 3 to 5 years ago (or even more, since this goes back to tS5).

Set it to Level 3. Good time to check you are using Direct 3D HAL too in the Device setting, and not RGB Emulation (which does everything in software and doesnt use the hardware on your card - again was useful some years back when not all hardware could cope, but you sure want to be using Direct 3D HAL on anything that is 4 years old or newer!)

Most other checkboxes in there should also be checked for today's cards. Shouldn't cause you performance issues.

HTH!
