Here is a rendering of my wedding ring. The metal still isn't right and I've tried most of the ones in TS6. Below is a pic of the real thing. At least as nice as I can take with my current camera.

Not too bad... How'd you make the diamond, or did you get it from the object library?

The ring in the picture is much more round and smooth, so if you're going for realism, maybe try to smooth it out a bit...

Try putting a picture in the background for the reflectance; I find it difficult to work with objects that are reflective when I have a gray background... Give it something to reflect, and hopefully it'll be easier to get the metal color you're looking for!

Hope this helps!

P.S.: Nice wedding ring!

For the diamond I took a geosphere , used a cylinder to cut the top off of it ,and a torus to round it out a bit. All were diamond material before the cuts just in case.

Cool, cool... I've never made any jewelry; sounds like a neat project to try...

The thing with realistic metal is that it needs an envirionment to reflect. Metal really doesn't have color by itself. ;)

Also if you look at your ring in the photo you'll notice that it doesn't have sharp edges. To capture the highlights on the edges of the metal you need to round them out a bit.
