Hi all,
I am trying to create a stainless steel aspect in V-Ray like this one :

Does anyone has a good shader setting by chance ?
Thanks in advance :) |

without anisotropy I don't make you much hope to create a similar effect for the reflection. Otherwise you need just a high reflection and a proper ior and a nice texture for some bump brushes or alike if the surface should get some irregularity to get something like that

Also, a key to getting these nice and shiny renders is - give it something to reflect. Use some bright white "reflector cards" above the object & behind the camera. This makes all the difference in the world. |

I don't thnk this is quite what you're after as far as the shader goes but I wanted to illustrate the difference a reflector makes in getting a shiny look on an object. (tS 6.6) |

100% agree with Frank... the stainless Steel must have something to reflect..
I try to recreate the scene..
3933
I use the Glossy Shader and a box behind to make something to reflect..
3932
And this is the Ts7.11 scene with the objects and the shader settings ready to use over Vray..
Free for the mases...
BTW!!! i see your picture and it have DOF.. thats why my render looks more sharp than the reality.. |

I tried your Glossy shader settings Prodigy. It works pretty well!
Thanks for the comments Frank. You are right, we should use the real life photography technics !
My mistake was to make my shader experiments in an empty scene -and of course the faucet (my dictionary says faucet, I thought it was tap?) always looked grey !-
Thanks again guys :) |

Tap works for me, but I think it is a UK thing. In the US they tend to say faucet all the time, that I've noticed :) To me faucet sounds like trying to be posh ("Keeping Up Appearances" anyone?)
HTH!

In southern MS they are sometimes called spigots. [spih-gut] |

The term 'valve' works for me. Taps are used to create internal threads. ;) |

Would Hyacinth pronounce it "Faw-Say"?
I turn on the tap, but I drink from the faucet.
The spigot is outside, and is also known as a hosebib.
The garden hose attaches to it.
You can fill bouquets, uh, buckets with it.
This post is 100% OT. |
